Blue/Trigg unique skillsets but maturity concerns

Trigg is making good sounds but we will see
Blue really just needed to put his nose to the grindstone

each has Pro Bowl talent easily

but then so do most players that make the 53. It is how much want to they have and how much gravel in the gut they have

This isn't the first time I've seen this comment. But I still have no idea why anyone would think this. He's 6-4 240 that is legitimate TE size. He even commented that LBs cannot cover him.
I think he’s referring to his blocking skills. Or lack there of. He’s gonna have to learn how to block to be successful as TE. He certainly has the size to do it.

That's not a piece a cake.........Recall Jason Witten saying, as a blocking TE, you have to be prepared to block for every offensive position ( QB, RB, WR and Oline)

No doub it wont be. But he appears to at least have the physical tools. Let’s see if he has the dedication.

Schoonmaker being a one contract bust was a real setback. The league is moving more and more to some two tight end sets so teams absolutely need two have at least two good TEs and then a reliable backup.

Next year I imagine we will be looking at OT, TE, CB and LB.

Trigg being able to replace Schoonmaker would be a huge sigh of relief but as much as I like him and wanted them to pick him in as high as the fifth round, Trigg is not NFL ready quite yet.

We have TEs on the roster that aren't good at blocking. He will fit in fine. He's going to be a move TE anyway.

True but from what I understand, he can’t block at all. We had a TE that could catch a couple years ago but could never make the 53 because he couldn’t block. Then he got swiped from the PS and still hasn’t done anything. I forget his name, sorry

If Trig is a dynamic route runner with amazing skills and a red zone target, there should be a place for him on this team even if his blocking sucks,

That's not correct. He isn't a good blocker with ends. He can improve just like the others do.

Thats what we do. We like to gamble on talented knuckleheads. You can add these 2 to a long list. Jimmy once said "Hit me in the head with a hammer the next time I take a dumb guy. I want smart players. They get better and better and better". The last 30 years Jerry has been hellbent on proving him wrong.

Yes. It’s strange that’s it’s big enough to prevent him from getting playing time yet so nebulous that we have no idea what it is. I find that a bit unusual.
Seems like from what we heard it was learning the playbook, pass pro, and work ethic. With the last likely contributing to the first two. That's actually a lot.

Randy Moss badly injured Jerry.

Gotta think there would be at least a handful of plays for each of them. Maybe you don't ask them too much to do things outside their main repertoire.

Either player would get poached if you try to stash them on the practice squad. Blue has had a full year to get acclimated so if he shows up to training camp and still has the same problems you might be better off just cutting him. I'd say give Trigg a year if you can afford to.

The big play potential is there for both, each have their own hurdles to clear but the talents there. I'm ready for the new Triggonometry, any angle you use to get open is the right angle ;)
You deserve a 'like' for the "Triggonometry" phrase alone.

He blew his rookie season but then again, there’s a reason he was drafted so late.
All I ever heard about was fumbling. My thought was, that comes down to technique and that can be taught. But it seems like that might be the least of his problems.
