I think there should be a temporary AP ZONE until the saga is done. Which may not be until after the actual trade deadline...but then there is the "next year" threads too...LOL
Then it solves 2 issues....cleans up a lot of Fan Zone thread space...as well, as having a mega merger thread issue, when here is like 10,000 posts, so why bother looking through it, when most are probably repetitive.

Anytime anything related to AP...gets redirected to the AP ZONE....

I wonder if Gurley goes to Minnesota if this would have been over and done with.

Trading a premium pick for AP would be stupid. They would be bidding against themselves. The Vikings would be stupid to pay him 12.75M when he does not want to be there. No other team will trade for him with his current contract. If he really wants to go to the Cowboys, then why would be rework his contract to enable a trade to AZ or some other team.

At some point the Vikings will get desperate and have to either cut him or take a late round pick.

This is what I think too.
What are the Vikings going to do? If AP holds out and causes distractions ,what to do?

If a team was going to give up a 1st round pick, then deal would already be done..

Exactly. I ignored these threads for months but now I think Peterson could be a perfect fit. That said, Jerry has all the trade leverage and he knows it. I do think the price will be something a 3rd and a conditional pick but you nailed it - if Dallas was willing to part with a 1st round pick the deal would have been done weeks ago.

I am against bringing any RB who would cost a lot of money. I don't care who the RB is. It is not a position which needs cap-killing money. It is all about the line. We need the OL to give the QB time to throw and make the holes. If the OL can do that, then the team will be in contention the whole year.

Two priorities for a solid long term;
Priority 1) OL gives QB time and holes for the RB to hit.
Priority 2) Do not mortgage the future and stay out of cap hell

If some star RB wants to come here, fine. But at a very cap-friendly contract. I don't see value in paying AP $8M for 1700 yards when a committee of McFadden/Randle/Williams/Dunbar can get 2200+ yards at a total cost of $4M.

So, what you are saying is that this will never end until he retires, never playing a down in a Cowboy uniform. I can see that.

2016 - maybe THIS is the year that Jerry Jones goes after Peterson! I swear when I saw Peterson carrying the ball for the Vikings last year, he looked very discouraged, like he did not want to be there! There is just no way the Vikings will ever pay him $14,750,000!

You ought to get an infraction for using Sturm's name as clickbait when this rag quotes one of Sturm's own pieces that I'm sure has already been posted here.

Not cool, man.

Not logical.

One one side you have a stud that has a proven history of holding up his end of the bargain.

On the other side you have a gimp that will be injured by week 5, an immature off the field nightmare of a decision maker, and a surgically repaired rb that has yet to hold up anything in the league long term.

Placing all of our eggs in the latter at the discounted rate will net exactly what you pay for. A discounted total yardage gained from scrimmage, a frustrated Romo, and a return to the pass happy offense that netted us an incredible 8-8 record for several season before the staff finally did something substantial from an offensive philosophical perspective last year.

The Cowboys' offensive line says hello to you. Sounds like you never met them. Perhaps you would like to give the offensive line the lion's share of credit for the success. If this OL stays healthy, it won't really matter much who is carrying the ball. It doesn't get any more logical than that.

You dismiss our present RBs yet fail to acknowledge the glaring and obvious past problems of AP (criminal, surgically repaired, and cap-killing).

Or worse, AD, which implies to me a recurring typo (which I know it stands for something else).

Ugh, no. AP is much, much worse because it is the incorrect nickname and it is much more often used. As an OU fan who has followed his career since before his freshman year and knowing that his nickname has always been AD until NFL fans started butchering it, seeing AP is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

So why not go with a less talented RB.... makes sense to me.

Well, at least AP are his initials.

I call him AP all the time. I don't see what's wrong with calling him by his initials.

I think that's a bit harsh.

I was fine with having a dedicated Peterson thread in the Fan Zone and felt it was the most fair way to handle things. Those that wanted to talk about the subject had a dedicated thread and didn't have to search around for it, and those that didn't had a clearly marked thread that they could avoid.
