Ugh, no. AP is much, much worse because it is the incorrect nickname and it is much more often used. As an OU fan who has followed his career since before his freshman year and knowing that his nickname has always been AD until NFL fans started butchering it, seeing AP is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

And just the opposite is true for me. His given initials are AP - for Adrian Peterson. I could care less about some nickname that nobody uses in the NFL.

It's because AP isn't his nickname. Did we call Michael Irvin "MI" or Bob Lilly "BL"? No, we called them The Playmaker and Mr. Cowboy. Or just Irvin or Lilly.

Even Peterson himself says that AD is his nickname and not AP. But fans and media confused it and now a mistaken name is more commonly used than his actual nickname.

AD stands for All Day. It's been his nickname since he was about 5 years old when his dad said he could run all day. He was called that all throughout little league, junior high, high school and college.

"I still think the chances aren't overwhelming and we really need to remember there are plenty of fish in the sea - with almost none of them costing as much as he will in both trade and salary," writes Sturm. "But, the smoke has been there for a long time and it would be foolish to fully rule it out. If he wants to be in Dallas, it would be up to him to convince the Vikings he has no intention of staying - such as no shows for all offseason and training camp activities. For that, the deal might not happen until August, so those who want this topic to go away are likely going to be annoyed."

Nobody confused anything, other than the act of using initials for his actual "All Day" nickname.

His true initials are A and P.

If you want to use his nickname "All Day", feel free. Any confusion comes from people trying to abbreviate that.

Look, I'm just saying that AD is his actual nickname and it's what he prefers. So when someone said that seeing AD is worse than seeing AP, I had to say something about it.

Here's proof from a reddit chat that he prefers AD--

I'm not trying to start an argument either, just pointing out how and where confusion starts.

Everyone knows who "Adrian Peterson" is and therefore using his given initials of "AP" is less confusing than when someone uses "AD" an abbreviated nickname that not everyone knows.

Haha I hear ya bud. And I understand why the confusion started. But as an OU fan who called him AD every Saturday for a couple years, I'm just trying to educate.

The Cowboys' offensive line says hello to you. Sounds like you never met them. Perhaps you would like to give the offensive line the lion's share of credit for the success. If this OL stays healthy, it won't really matter much who is carrying the ball. It doesn't get any more logical than that.

You dismiss our present RBs yet fail to acknowledge the glaring and obvious past problems of AP (criminal, surgically repaired, and cap-killing).
blah blah blah. The same offensive line blocked us to mediocrity in 2012 and 2013. There have been successive additions but to once again minimize Demarco's contribution to last year's success along with the oline is short sighted imo.

Regarding AP and the comparison to our possible RBC setup this year, let's stick with factual on the field stats. I'll strike my remarks regarding Randle's off the field choices. That said, you still have an injury waiting to happen in McFadden, an unproven in Williams, and the only real remote possibility in Randle who has yet to carry a full load. Given what we had last year in Demarco, I find it difficult to accept what we're attempting to do with the RBC setup as a positive move with these three.

On the field, AP's record speaks for itself.

I'm also curious how Jason Whitten, Shawn Lee, Rolando Scandrick, Anthony Hinchens, and Orlando McClain are all doing.

Not just any back can produce- that was proven during the two games Emmitt held out and our run game sucked - he came back and it came to life. Now a good back behind a top line will do pretty well; Denver established that years ago when they had one thousand yard rusher after another and most of them never produced anywhere near that anywhere else.

I stopped and paid attention to the thread title.

Freaking genius.

Heck. I just donated a few bucks to the site because of it. :)

I'm so impulsive. :(

It's pretty simple AllDay=AD....

You know I think it is great we are talking about the team we love "potentially" landing the best RB in the NFL and the best of this curren era. Obviously the speculation will continue until there is concrete validation. Until we know for sure we should be able to debate on here until that happens. At least we are not sitting here all offseason talking about how bad this team is we are talking about a potential final piece to the title. Bring AD home!

AP or AD works. However, 100% of the time it should be "I couldn't care less" Not "I could care less". if you "could" care less.. then that means there is more that you could care.

There are gonna be a lot of upset fans when we go out and get AP. I'm sure they will get over it quick though.

I'm trying to tell em but they're stuck on embracing the oasis in the middle of the desert.

I know.. they are completely blind to it. They want to think long term when we have the team to win it all right now and can even afford to give up a late first round pick next year. Let me see.. super bowl right now.. or "maybe" a super bowl in the future depending on who our future QB is.
