If Guyton isn't ready I rather have a very good LT in Smith than an All Pro at Guard.
Let Bass/Beebe/Richard fight for LG for a year while Guyton learns.
Or groom him to be the RT if Steele can't bounce back

Every year more than half the first round picks are not NFL ready right out of the gate. If he’s not, it’s normal

Or. Sign a veteran.

Why would anyone be surprised ?

When you leave gaping holes on your roster and you don’t properly fill them, this is what happens

That would require Dallas to spend a piece of the pie on an outsider.
Sorry, that's against Stephen's cap guide for dummies.

In all seriousness, David Bakhtiari would be a good stop gap if he wasn't Sean Lee 2.0.
Even factoring in DB, I think Smith in 2024 is better than them all.

I hate the idea of moving an All Pro guard to tackle because the FO decided that drafting another project in the first round was a good idea.
I hear ya, but I don’t think it’ll affect Tyler negatively. I honestly think you could have him play LT. then once Guyton is ready, Tyler can move right back to LG and not miss a beat.

Tyler is an elite athlete for a LG. Nothing is going to change that.

I agree with him.

My opinion remains.
Left to right Tyler Smith, Bass, Beebe/Hoffman competition winner, Zack and Steele.

This totally upsets the Cowboys past standard operating procedure of 1st rd olinemen picks being rookie starters.

I question both the kid's lack of experience, maturity and Solari's ability to coach him up to a competent standard by week one.

Yep, he's an expensive, draft-wise anyway, swing tackle to me this year.
He's not ready for the starting dlines of the NFC East or AFC North.
His daily beat downs by Micah in camp will not serve as an iron sharpens iron catalyst but more take away the confidence of a kid not quite ready for prime time yet.

Remember Tyron getting embarrassed by Micah in camp last year?
Yeah, just not so sure this kid's ready for that kinda indoc to the NFL.

Remember when Collins played LG and they moved him to RT.

Leave Tyler at LG. Go sign a veteran for the LT position until Guyton is ready.

He played his best years 2017-2019 at RT. Earned a 5 yr 50 million extension September 2019. It was 2020 where he had a hip injury and came in out of shape largely due to covid so teams didn't have players working out at the facilities.

He was a road grader at LG. He was ok at RT. I think Martin covered a lot of those warts.

Agree.
Tyler Smith was originally drafted as the heir apparent to Tyron Smith anyway.
He's proven he can play NFL left tackle effectively.
Just because he now dominated the switch inside at guard, the left tackle performance he gave as a rook did not go away.
He is currently the best LT on the squad.

Guyton needs lotsa coaching up before being ready.

I totally agree with your plan here.

He was a good but not dominant OG - the whole reason he was moved. He also wanted to play tackle. He was much better at RT until the hip injury.

Yep, exactly. Much easier to replace guards than left tackles.
Tyler Smith has proven he can play left tackle better than Edoga or Richards.
If you're putting your best 5 on the o- line in positions to succeed it should begin with Tyler Smith at LT imo.
None of the other tackles on this team are as good as Tyler Smith is at left tackle.

Ronald Leary was a better LG than Collins was, they just didn't trust his knee/want to pay him.

1. That’s switching sides.
2. Smith is better now than Collins ever was.
Yes. At LG. Its like y'all want to forget how many mistakes and penalties he got at LT. His biggest issue in college was penalties which is why he was projected as a guard in the first place.

Stop being cheap and go sign a decent LT while Guyton learns.
