According to McCarthy he’s going to get most of the preseason work. Nick Eatman reported prior to camp that Lance wasn’t looking that great and thought that Cooper Rush would remain the backup. This can’t be encouraging for the fans that are touting Lance and would like to see him as our starting QB.

Apparently they don’t realize that doesn’t guarantee hitting on a good QB. They need to keep up with the draft.

It was more wishful thinking than anything else from the anti-Dak crowd.

I always found it hilarious how somebody that has never taken a single snap in a Cowboys uniform was suddenly going to be our savior, LOL

Evaluating a rookie coming out of college is not the same as having watched that same player in practice for multiple years.

Last time I checked, this is Lance's 4th year in the NFL, correct me if I am wrong.

Draft busts happens, you think a player looks good in college but it doesnt translate to the pros..........see Taco Charlton for a closer to home example of blowing a 1st round pick.

Do you think it is just a coincidence that the biggest defenders of Lance saying "just wait till the preseason games and you will see his greatness" are also the most hard-core posters against resigning Dak.

Anyone who thinks Trey Lance has anything in his bag is just desperate because they want anyone other than Dak right now. You can't seriously have watched Trey Lance in the NFL and think he is a quality starter. There's a reason why he never got his starting job back after being hurt. He isn't good. And think about this in context. Not only did SF pick him with a top 3 pick, they used a lot of capital to even trade into that spot. Teams don't bail on someone like that unless there is zero hope. They see him everyday in practice. They knew he was bad. And the in-game performances showed that. Barely completed half his passes. And this is with a stacked roster around him. The same franchise who makes any run of the mill QBs (Alex Smith, Kap, Purdy, Jimmy G) be Super Bowl caliber couldn't elevate him. That is very telling.
