What the heck are you talking about?

I was just wondering how old you were when those events happened. It's a fair question. Not sure why it triggered you.

How old were you when Aikman was winning SB's, since you brought that up too.
I was a child. I barely remember it.

Yup and didn't Miami end up with Culpepper? He was actually pretty decent with Minny but flamed out, in part due to his own injuries.

Brees was not considered a bust. I think they had questions about his arm strength, but he made up for it by being super accurate. They took Rivers just as Brees was coming into his own. I don't believe it was because they thought Brees sucked, it was because they thought they had a higher ceiling with Rivers.
That’s exactly what happened. And you are right they ended up with Culpepper I believe because Brees got hurt or was hurt.

But I was told he was going to be the starting QB. I was told he'd beat out Dak. I was told that by this very board! *Faints from shock*
Were you told that we aren’t winning a SB with either one? If not, I’ll enlighten you…NO!

realistically, anything that happened before the salary cap was implemented cannot be compared 1-to-1 with cap-complacent teams
I think it is fair to compare teams moving on from players for non-financial reasons, like is being done here.

But the teams they were on and the teams they go to are not close to balanced like they are in the NFL today.

Take Steve Young for instance. He went from a team that would have not been able to make the salary floor with how bad their talent was, to a team that would never have existed in the salary cap era due to how loaded they were. Every SB Montana and Young won had top 8 defenses to go along with 1st team all pros littered all over the offense. They actually got in trouble for skirting the salary cap the first few year it was out, IIRC they were 20m$ over the cap and tried to hide it.

Steve being on such a horrible team and getting traded to arguably the most loaded team ever is incomparable to any other circumstance

So is yours! What else are they waiting on besides seeing if they could trade him
Go watch Mike Fisher last night on his youtube channel. He explains it PERFECTLY. But, I kmnow, I know... Fisher sUCKS, right? He is a fool, I dont listen to anything he has to say.

Well I will paraphrase. He said... WHAT IF, because he doesnt make it like the Cowboys are calling him on the phone and giving him all the inside info on negotiations. BUT, what if the Cowboys have offered Dak 55 million that they think is fair. Love just got 55 million and is younger and just whooped Dak last year in the playoffs. Burrow got 55 million, and nobody believes Dak is better than Burrow. So what if they have offered Dak 55 million and they think it is fair and Dak says Nope, I want 60 million. Could that be why there is a hold up? or should they just give Dak whatever he wants, then we can listen to everyon ein here slam them for caving?

The Chargers essentially used the first overall pick to get Rivers. Picked Eli ist overall. with a pre-negotiated trade with the Giants who picked Rivers with the 4th pick.

The Chargers didn't think highly of Brees at all. Even before the injury.

I don't disagree with any of this, but that's not really what's being talked about. Teams giving up on young players who went on to greatness is what is being talked about in this sidebar discussion.

Young wouldn't have had the same overall success with the Bucs, but he wouldn't have been any less the great QB he was.

I think it's fair for players to leave non performing teams for non-financial reasons.

thats the great thing about this, they dont have to do anything and neither does Dak...they can offer him 55 and say thats as far as we are going AND Dak can say ok Lets see what other teams offer in FA...neither is correct or incorrect at this point. The Jones are only bad in this if they believe what they are telling everyone "We want Dak" but they are only wrong for letting it get to this IF thats really how they feel.

They want Dak.... but not for 60 million. Id love the brand new Corvette, but not for its price. Dak at 55, apparently they can live with. Dak at 60 million, they cant live with.

CowboysZone LOYAL Fan
I didn't call him run first, I'm just agreeing that the offense is made for Dak. take a chill pill dude.
A supposed Cowboy fan hoping Lance is no good at what he does. Why would someone not want a good player? We don't know what he is at this point, but to dog the hell out of him like 6 does seems very odd to me.

I think he is a 49'er fan and he has never admitted he is not when I call him on that. lol

right and i have to think at some point this could've been done better if they wanted him with that diference. They negotiate through the media all the time and it always backfires on them.
