Anyone who thinks Trey Lance has anything in his bag is just desperate because they want anyone other than Dak right now. You can't seriously have watched Trey Lance in the NFL and think he is a quality starter. There's a reason why he never got his starting job back after being hurt. He isn't good. And think about this in context. Not only did SF pick him with a top 3 pick, they used a lot of capital to even trade into that spot. Teams don't bail on someone like that unless there is zero hope. They see him everyday in practice. They knew he was bad. And the in-game performances showed that. Barely completed half his passes. And this is with a stacked roster around him. The same franchise who makes any run of the mill QBs (Alex Smith, Kap, Purdy, Jimmy G) be Super Bowl caliber couldn't elevate him. That is very telling.

right and i have to think at some point this could've been done better if they wanted him with that diference. They negotiate through the media all the time and it always backfires on them.
really? They were pretty much silent the entire off season until last week.

not really they literally talked in circles with "we have a cap" and "win with what you got" and so on...I have not heard other GM's on tv and radio saying anything but "We are working on it"..the one thing you cant say is the Jones boys are silent...thats pretty much their MO when it comes to this though.

I didn't call him run first, I'm just agreeing that the offense is made for Dak. take a chill pill dude.
It really isn't and that has been the beef of many since he took over. The coaches never designed an offense to cater to his strengths. In fact, quite the opposite. We asked him for many years to throw 40-50 times a game. Dropping back and waiting for long, developing routes down the field. That isn't him.

7 running backs taken round 4 in 2024 including the Eagles . Dallas may have a back up QB to show in round 4.

Why a 4 is never explained . No one in football was offering any choice that high . People on this board say a 4 is nothing . Nonsense Pollard & Schultz were both fourth rounders .
So was Josh Ball. A 4th round pick certainly has value, but flipping it for the possibility of a starting caliber QB is a good use in my opinion. Lance may not become anything, but it was a good risk/reward trade-off. Certainly better than most gambles the old wildcatter is want to do.

You could be right, but the logic is very flawed. SF already had their QB in Purdy, there is no need to keep a developmental project around that makes significant money. Plus Trey Lance is still younger than some of the QBs that were drafted this season. He may end up being out of the league soon for all I know, but I wouldn't shut the book on the guy just yet. Lets see what he does this preseason at least.

Jerry mindset Dak is nearing the end of his contract Trey Lance is “ leverage “ . Carson Wentz another NDakota St QB , the 49ers and Jets both blew it in that draft of QB’s . Jerry helped soften the pain for SF . Denver gave the Jets nothing .

Without looking it up...... I bet you couldnt name 5 GMs in the entire league... because ESPN doesnt give a damn about those teams. Nobody does. The Vikings had negotiations with Jefferson going for a long time, but no sports network cares to talk to the vikings on a daily basis because outside of Minnesota, nobody really cares. If nobody puts a mic or camera in your face to ask, of course you dont speak.

4th rounders that were not “ misses “ . Some on the board seem to think it’s a throw away round and it was worth it for Lance. Wasn’t .
I have not mention anything about misses and hits in the 4th round....I've been on record saying it was worth it to take a flyer on him with a 4th but that is it...

The Chargers essentially used the first overall pick to get Rivers. Picked Eli ist overall. with a pre-negotiated trade with the Giants who picked Rivers with the 4th pick.

The Chargers didn't think highly of Brees at all. Even before the injury.
He made the pro bowl in 04, the same year they drafted Rivers. The Chargers may have been suprised at how he was developing, but they didn't consider him a bust. Just like I said, they took a shot on Rivers thinking he had a higher ceiling.
