Olivier Vernon, whom fans longed for in free agency, a guy just signed to the richest DE contract in NFL history, at his combine measured 6'2" -- 269 lbs -- and ran a 4.8 forty.

Yet Bosa, who's been considered not only the best DE, but the best player on many boards all year, a guy who has remained at the top for Kiper, McShay, and Mayock even after a less than glowing combine 40 at 4.8, is suddenly viewed by fans as not worthy of the #4 spot.

For some perspective in an era of OLBs getting 15+ sacks, Charles Haley, except for one season in SF at OLB, had 10-12 sacks in his best, prime years in the NFL, but he brought pressure, absorbed double teams, and affected QBs. Bosa is not the type of player who goes bust. He's a hard working, high motor guy with the skills, moves, and techniques to have an impact even in his rookie year. Draft Bosa at DE and you get a guy with the versatility of Hardy who can move around the DL, a guy who will start and improve your pass rush while making plays behind the line for many years.

I also feel that it will either be Bosa or Ramsey who will be the #4 pick if we stand pat. If we decide to trade back for a team looking to
grab a QB, then I think EE will be smack dab in the viewing window.

Nice write-up. I wouldn't mind Bosa at #4. I also wouldn't mind CB Ramsey at 4 or Tunsil at 4. .

Ramsey for me. I have very little facts or much backing up my opinion. But, I really feel Bosa is going to be average. 5-6 sack guy at best. His total last year was revealing.

Ramsey has all the measurables plus he's very physical and that reveals heart. Those together make a pro bowl type player. I also wouldn't mind E.E. At four or trade down and get him. I just don't feel any lineman in this draft is worth that pick.

There are much more knowledgable people than me about the draft on this board. So there's a decent chance in completly wrong. Guess we'll see.

the main reason I wouldn't like it is because Gregory still has potential if he can straighten up, I don't want us having 3 pro bowl defensive ends because we would have to rotate them too much

Yeah I hate having depth at positions too. The is pro football, shouldn't even be substitutions allowed. While we're at it let's make everyone play both ways so we don't have to rotate offense and defensive guys on and off the field.

I think it is really hard to necessarily translate college numbers to the pros, sacks, but especially interceptions.

I don't even think interceptions is the best stat for a defensive back. I'd be much more interested in the yards per target, and completion percentage, number of first downs given up, number of touchdowns given up e.t.c.

Football does a great disservice to find quality statistics to measure player performance and potential.

me thinks Ramsey is the better player vs. Bosa but Ramsey cannot rush the passer. I can see us taking Ramsey if Hardy is retained.

I don't want a pro bowl back up/rotational player if we can get a pro bowl starter at 4 at a different position

I'd rather re-sign Hardy for a year and get Ramsey.

We could try to find a corner in free agency and draft one in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Our secondary would be stacked

LCB - Orlando Scandrick
FS - Jalen Ramsey
SS - Byron Jones
RCB - Free Agent

CB - 2nd or 3rd rounder

The only thing is I don't really see playing Byron Jones at strong safety. So another thing you could do is you cut Barry Church (probably in the first scenario too now that I think of it).

LCB - Jalen Ramsey
FS - Byron Jones
SS - JJ Wilcox (just for a year)
RCB - Orlando Scandrick

CB - 2nd or 3rd rounder

I cant get outa of my mind that almost everyone has bosa rated top 5.\
It fills our biggest need position also.
If we're going with win now.

I don't like the idea of getting rid of a capable asset (Hardy) only to spend a high draft pick to replace him. It is at best a lateral move. Retain our talent and build on it. QB, CB, RB and DT is what i prefer to spend our first 3 picks on.

1 tech, safety, or corner imo. We need to create turnovers and Hayden sucks.

I like Bosa but I would pick Ramsey/QB or try to trade down first.

If we that's who we end up with at least you're still getting a blue chip player.

Bosa is a guy who may be a bust because he keeps getting suspended for failing drug tests in the NFL

You dont get rid of Hardy because he is a bad football player. You get rid of Hardy because he is a locker room cancer. Rushing the passer isnt an issue
