the main reason I wouldn't like it is because Gregory still has potential if he can straighten up, I don't want us having 3 pro bowl defensive ends because we would have to rotate them too much

LOL....I don't think you have to worry about 3 pro bowl DE's from that group. I'd be thrilled to have one.

Watch the tape. Bosa cannot edge rush and bend to get to the QB. He also plays SDE over the RT. You don't spend #4 overall pick on a guy like that. Great college player, but He is WAY overrated as a pro prospect.

Reggie White always played LDE over the RT....just for argument's sake.

Bosa was suspended for testing positive for pot at the start of the 2015 college season. With the Cowboys already having a pot head in Gregory hard to believe they would take a chance on landing another one at #4 overall. I caught the tail end of an interview with Bosa and he looked and sounded almost like Sean Penn in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. He sounded like a pot head.

I'd rather re-sign Hardy for a year and get Ramsey.

We could try to find a corner in free agency and draft one in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Our secondary would be stacked

LCB - Orlando Scandrick
FS - Jalen Ramsey
SS - Byron Jones
RCB - Free Agent

CB - 2nd or 3rd rounder

The only thing is I don't really see playing Byron Jones at strong safety. So another thing you could do is you cut Barry Church (probably in the first scenario too now that I think of it).

LCB - Jalen Ramsey
FS - Byron Jones
SS - JJ Wilcox (just for a year)
RCB - Orlando Scandrick

CB - 2nd or 3rd rounder

I'd rather try to get Weddle on a fairly cheap, short term deal. A lot of people say you need to build through the draft AND free agency. I agree with that. But giving a guy who gets 7 sacks a year the biggest contract for a DE in NFL history is not winning free agency. Winning free agency is getting guys like Revis and Talib on 1-year deals. Heck, signing McClain and Hardy were much better moves than what the Giants have been doing, in my opinion. You build your core through the draft. Then you fill in the cracks with proven veterans who are flying under the radar. Weddle might be 30+ but he's a Hall of Famer and nobody is even looking at him. That's the type of guy you don't have to throw big money at. We've been there before. That's why we're still paying for Carr. Giants will be doing the same with Vernon. Let's go out and get proven veterans for cheap and not young busts who we hope will be a diamond in the rough like Gachkar. Let's go draft good rookies and not waste picks on projects who we never intend to play. That's how you build a football team.

I think it is really hard to necessarily translate college numbers to the pros, sacks, but especially interceptions.

I don't even think interceptions is the best stat for a defensive back. I'd be much more interested in the yards per target, and completion percentage, number of first downs given up, number of touchdowns given up e.t.c.

Football does a great disservice to find quality statistics to measure player performance and potential.

I agree
Just pointing out that if you use stats to define one player and not the other
To me both Ramsey and Bosa could help this team and both have questions. Can Bosa be an elite edge rusher? Is Ramsey a CB or safety?

We know Bosa is not an elite edge rusher, the question is can he disrupt the pocket enough to help the pass rush to warrant the #4 pick?

Ramsey, on this team, would fit in well with the versatility flex model the Cowboys like on defense.

You would like him at corner primarily picking at #4 ideally speaking but he may be a better Safety at the next level.

Olivier Vernon, whom fans longed for in free agency, a guy just signed to the richest DE contract in NFL history, at his combine measured 6'2" -- 269 lbs -- and ran a 4.8 forty.

Yet Bosa, who's been considered not only the best DE, but the best player on many boards all year, a guy who has remained at the top for Kiper, McShay, and Mayock even after a less than glowing combine 40 at 4.8, is suddenly viewed by fans as not worthy of the #4 spot.

For some perspective in an era of OLBs getting 15+ sacks, Charles Haley, except for one season in SF at OLB, had 10-12 sacks in his best, prime years in the NFL, but he brought pressure, absorbed double teams, and affected QBs. Bosa is not the type of player who goes bust. He's a hard working, high motor guy with the skills, moves, and techniques to have an impact even in his rookie year. Draft Bosa at DE and you get a guy with the versatility of Hardy who can move around the DL, a guy who will start and improve your pass rush while making plays behind the line for many years.

Dont put me in that category of fans, I've always been off the Bosa train for us at 4 I'll pass. Elliott is the better buckeye player in the draft. BPA
