I'd rather re-sign Hardy for a year and get Ramsey.

We could try to find a corner in free agency and draft one in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Our secondary would be stacked

LCB - Orlando Scandrick
FS - Jalen Ramsey
SS - Byron Jones
RCB - Free Agent

CB - 2nd or 3rd rounder

The only thing is I don't really see playing Byron Jones at strong safety. So another thing you could do is you cut Barry Church (probably in the first scenario too now that I think of it).

LCB - Jalen Ramsey
FS - Byron Jones
SS - JJ Wilcox (just for a year)
RCB - Orlando Scandrick

CB - 2nd or 3rd rounder

Heck yes. Let's sign a FA and use 2 of our top 3 picks in the draft on a CB, including a top 5 overall pick.

This is genius team building that I don't believe has ever failed in the league.

I remember several times last year as we won 4 games I was thinking we were just a few more corners away from where we wanted to go.

Watch the tape. Bosa cannot edge rush and bend to get to the QB. He also plays SDE over the RT. You don't spend #4 overall pick on a guy like that. Great college player, but He is WAY overrated as a pro prospect.

I don't like the idea of getting rid of a capable asset (Hardy) only to spend a high draft pick to replace him. It is at best a lateral move. Retain our talent and build on it. QB, CB, RB and DT is what i prefer to spend our first 3 picks on.

Exactly! You let Hardy go, draft Bosa and hope that he's as productive, especially as a rookie, and your #4 overall pick and shot at a franchise quarterback is gone.

A net loss.

You dont get rid of Hardy because he is a bad football player. You get rid of Hardy because he is a locker room cancer. Rushing the passer isnt an issue

Haven't heard anybody creditable directly say he was a locker room cancer. I have read a lot of media speculation though.

I gotta assume there is a reason they dont want him back. Gotta be some serious smoke to that fire

I don't want a pro bowl back up/rotational player if we can get a pro bowl starter at 4 at a different position

In theory that's fine. Personally I'm not sure you can get enough good pass rushers but I would accept your answer. The fact that you wouldn't entertain the idea of a bosa in the draft because of randy gregory is what really makes me scratch my head. I have high hopes for gregory, don't get me wrong. I wouldn't avoid finding and upgrade for him though. A guy whose shown us both on field and off field issues is not who I'm putting all my hopes into. If a DE is on the top of your board when you pick at 4 you have to take him.

Jury still out on that. They may just want him at a discounted rate. Letting him see for his self his market value.

You could be right, but considering a guy who had as many sacks in two years as Hardy has had in one got a contract over 15 million a year and seemingly no one including us seems to have any interest in Hardy right now leads me to believe no one wants to touch him.
Considering how attention starved he came off as, it would surprise me if he was as much of a distraction as been reported

That good enough attitude his what has kept in mediocrity hell for the last 20 years. Hopefully that changes the same way our o-line philosophy has changed over the years.

Well if our aging QB that had has had back surgery, broken his shoulder twice, and has had shoulder surgery was there all would be well. He's got 4 or 5 years left...

Man please, Bosa is slow, stiff and robotic! He has no quick twitch, no flexibility and no ability to bend on the edge! Vernon may not be fast as 40 times go, but when it comes to flexibility, bend off the edge and flexibility, he rates miles ahead of the stiff JAG Bosa! I will pass and go Ramsey, Buckner or Jack before him! Teams are already souring on him and he will not be a top five pick!

I don't think Byron is a SS either. I also believe FS is the most important position in the secondary, so it would be nice to see who can play the position better (Jones or Ramsey) and have the other play corner.

Ramsey for me. I have very little facts or much backing up my opinion. But, I really feel Bosa is going to be average. 5-6 sack guy at best. His total last year was revealing.

Ramsey has all the measurables plus he's very physical and that reveals heart. Those together make a pro bowl type player. I also wouldn't mind E.E. At four or trade down and get him. I just don't feel any lineman in this draft is worth that pick.

There are much more knowledgable people than me about the draft on this board. So there's a decent chance in completly wrong. Guess we'll see.

Love your honesty. Me too. Me too.

Nice write-up. I wouldn't mind Bosa at #4. I also wouldn't mind CB Ramsey at 4 or Tunsil at 4. .

I would definitely consider Tunsil at #4 is he were there. Talk about "all world" OL. Any back
who can't function behind that potential OL needs to retire or take a job at Taco Bell.

Yeah I hate having depth at positions too. The is pro football, shouldn't even be substitutions allowed. While we're at it let's make everyone play both ways so we don't have to rotate offense and defensive guys on and off the field.

Thunderpimp for the win.

There's a better chance of Gregory being a pro bowler than Church or who ever we choose to be our #2 corner. For me they're are bigger needs than defensive end that we need to address.

the main reason I wouldn't like it is because Gregory still has potential if he can straighten up, I don't want us having 3 pro bowl defensive ends because we would have to rotate them too much

How did that work out for the Giants in 2007? Repeat after me..........you can NEVER have enough pass rushers. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
