Not necessarily. Just the threat of the death penalty could very easily get him to talk. While I'd love to see him hang high, I'd rather allow him to plea bargain down to life-without-parole in exchange for getting good information to prevent future attacks (and save American lives).

So just because he doesn't actually get the death penalty doesn't mean it didn't do its job.

Get all the info we can, promise him anything, and then kill him.

:D
<Just kidding>

What's the law? Can he be executed? Plus is there a public safety exception to Miranda?

There is a public safety exception to Miranda.

The burden in being the media is that you actually have to confirm things before reporting them.

Twitter was all over the place.

I'm not sure about that. CNN reported that there was an arrest a full 12 hours before that was true. The rest of it was open speculation about bomb vests/right-wing terrorism and other things.

Twitter news came straight from the police scanner, so any speculation you heard on Twitter was stuff that the police themselves were speculating about.

My favorite part of this whole mess is they caught these guys so fast because a guy who shouldnt have survived did and IDd em. That guy is a hero IMO. Lost both his legs. Hopefully when he recovers some company offers him a cushy job.
Just to play devil's advocate...

...he could have reported to someone when he saw the kid walk up, drop a bag, and walk away.

It doesn't sound like there was that kind of time from when they walked away and the bombs went off.

Seriously doubt he was thinking to himself "hey, that could be a bomb". None of us would think that before that happened.

Maybe more along the lines thinking he was dumb to lay his backpack down, someone is going to steal it.

I don't know how much of a time difference there was, but don't think it matters.

I think the bomber probably put the bag down and hung around with it next to his feet for a few minutes. That way it doesn't look so suspicious and not that many people are going to notice. It was only after it blew up that this guy realized what he was up to. My .02

Looks like the dirtbag is awake now. He was answering some questions via a pad and/or paper.

Unconfirmed, but his main injury was a gunshot in his mouth and out of the back of the neck. I am assuming he tried the easy way out in the boat and failed

Tsarnaev is being treated for a gunshot in the mouth that exited the back of his neck, according Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis, who was interviewed on CBS' "60 Minutes."

Nice, and he's still alive for trial.

Would you?

Most people aren't observant enough to do that, or too enmeshed in their own lives to think that at the time.

Let's not talk about political polarizing people from the left or the right please...it only invites more political talk and I am pretty sure people know it.
