Bottom Line: Carpenter is a bust

Only the deaf, dumb, and blind would debate the bust part. Doubt he gets cut though.

Convincing.

In reality, he'll make the team and not be resigned.

They have to have him for coverage situations at least until Jason Williams is gets healthy and shows he can be capable.

He should be cut today

You cant do that for one basic reason, (first i agree with you that carpenter is a bust-due to fact he is a finese linebacker) but what player are you going to have in coverage in the nickle and dime package). We have no linebacker with the speed of bobby carpenter with experience. Remember last year was burnett in great coverage.

jason williams wont be back till 3 to 5 more weeks. He is the only other linebacker we have that is fast under 4.6 in the 40.

Now in time jason williams will be able to do that, or stephen hodge but right now hodge is on IR and jason williams is to inexperienced.

This will more than likely be Carpenters last season in Dallas.

My non expert opinion is that he would be a solid to good weakside LB in a 4-3 defense... Which will allow him to play in space and not take on blockers.

Keith Brooking is under 4.6 and can cover, but they need more than one in case of injury.

Barbie sucks but he's the default backup inside linebacker as of now. Hopefully when J.Will come back from his ankle injury, he can catch up and take over for Barbie later in the season.

I like this deal where players "grade out" good on film, but don't actually do anything on the field.

OK you are in the right spot/area for a given pass play, that's good, I guess Carpenter is the king of this.

But don't you get points from film graders and coaches for actually tackling people?

Maybe Carpenter is blanketing his man in coverage so strong that QBs are forced to throw elsewhere, then I can see why he never makes any tackles.

He might have size and speed, but he plays soft. Now did he play that way at Ohio State? I don't know. I do know that Bill Parcells likes physical players so what happened? Did Bill think Bobby would be like his dad? B.P. blew this first round pick.

So I'm related to Helen Keller huh?

Only three tackles last night. Jeez. At least he can cover halfway decently.

But did you see this guy against the run, if Bradie james goes down that's whou you want playing inside. You guys know a first round pick should be starting by now, he's just not a 3-4 LB. Bottom Line

Bobby should go. I swear, I've never seen a guy more interested in making sure he never hits the ground than him. He is never below anyones pads let alone delivering any kind of hit. Whenever he is ever near making a tackle, all he does is grab a guy high and tries to spin him to the ground.

I liked what I saw from Matt Stewart more so than Busty. Plus he can long snap and I'm sure he's much cheaper.

Brookings can still play the nickel and we do get JW back later. Bradie James may even be able to in a pinch.

I doubt he gets cut, but I sure wish he would.
