that was pathetic! i bet you people were the same ones here lastweek saying the boys should bench roy. we win he's the best. we lose he should be benched. make up your mind!

How much would you like to bet?

Try playing with a helmet on, once in a while. It was an impossible situation for Roy yesterday, and Leinart used a scrambling QB's most effective weapon, the pump fake. You've consistently shown you know nearly nothing about anything, and this is just another example. There were several things Roy did poorly on yesterday - that was not one of them.

well ed reed has 1 int and 5 pass deflections and to compare hitting with him and roy is like a wiffle bat compared to a louisville slugger.
So he has made half of the plays Roy did this year and still has the supeiror talent with mcallister and rolle around him.

He should be having a hall of fame season this year

good point.

...but not only will he not sniff the hall of fame, but if he ever gets back to hawaii, it will be because of his rep...not his play. he is overrated to say the least.

BTW...Williams is leading the league in damn near every relevant playmaking stat for the position. just saying...

bet matt leinart wouldn't of faked out reed like he did roy

That was a case of Roy not being Roy. Roy was more concerned about the passing TD. Something that he has received a lot of criticism for lately. The old Roy would have ran through Leinhart like a bad case of the runs and left skid marks all the way to the 50 yard line.

If he would have gone for the QB on the play and Matt would have thrown the ball over his head for a TD, you know what would have been said right? You can at least say that Roy defended the pass well on that play.

Roy is our safety I really don't care what Ed Reed does or not. Williams is not perfect and has made mistake so has Ed Reed. Roy has also came up with big plays for Dallas and should be in Dallas for a few more years. People can debate this as long as they wish but reading these post is like watching a dog chasing his tail.

yeah and thats why i started this post because people needs to see this Roy owns the league lead amongst safeties in every coverage stat and reed, polamolu and dawkins have better talent around them. At least right now talent roy just has pontentialy good young players around him. reed has too many to name, dawkins has that blitz from philadelphia that allows him to make plays, and polamolu has porter hampton and farrior and others that are proven stars in this league. Come on lets be realistic here

i vote "bottom line" is the most misused cliche in postings today.
My vote goes to "at best." That term gets used so much it's like fingernails on a chalk board to me.

big bad roy I understand and i stated that but the P.I came on a reverse pass. I dont think any safety can make that play and the only reason dawkins deflected this week is because they watched the tape from the boys vs skins game last week and knew to look for it.

i here ya. i just pointed out the penalty cause in one of your previous posts. you talked about roys key tackle that could have won the game. im just saying he's not all he is cracked up to be. don't get me wrong, im a big roy fan and i got his white jersey. but i do think he is a little overrated.

I feel ya man but what safety doesn't make mistakes. Im just saying the same hype roy gets everyother safety gets twice as much.

Think about the polamolu lovefest the league had with him last year, and the reed love fest in 2004 and bob sanders started getting it too for a while but now that pressure went away in indy so his hype went down.

I just think that Roy and dawkins and harrison are the most consistent safeties in the league. They are not perfect by a long shot but they are the best at their positions in the league.

Corners get burned in this league but they make plays to over ride those mistakes as well as safeties. D.hall, C. bailey C. mcallister, T.new all of those guys may get burned on a play or two but they are the best in the business you feel me?

We also have great wr's in this leauge BIG FAST WR that this game has never seen before fitzgerald, boldin,t.o,plaxico, tory holt, randy moss, chad johnson, and the little guys are extremely fast santanna, steve smith, galloway, and so on. Corners and Safeties will get burned and make mistakes those wideouts are just too good

It was also blown up in the backfield when El nearly fell down. Dawkins had plenty of time to play catchup, but it definitely fooled them all at first.

I cant say that he is absolutely the best or not. I do not get to see some of the other safties play much.

A truely great safty makes the players around him play better. I think every time Roy intercepts a ball or lays the wood on a TE or WR he winds up the rest of the Dallas D. Dallas has only had a few truely great saftys and he is one of them. I have watched football for a long time and seen some very good ones before.

I am more than inclined to say that all safeties are safeties for a reason. If they were excellent cover people they would be cornerbacks IMO.

You should be shot. (Just joking) (maybe) Newman cannot do what Roys does, he cannot hit as hard for one and he cannot tackle as well. Roy is responsible for WRs, TEs, RBs and QBs. T New just deals with WRs 99 times out of 100. I think both are excellant players at their positions but to say SS or FS are just CBs that cannot make the grade at CB is a mistake.

GO TO NFL.COM FOR PROOF!!!
If you check out the pro bowl voting for strong safeties he has more int's and pass deflections than any other strong safeties, and among all safties in the league including reed, dawkings, polamolu, EVERYONE!! he leads all safeties in pass deflections and is tied with adrian wilson and polamolu for the lead with 3 interceptions.

So my point is that obviously he might make some errors but so do all of these guys but he also has been making more plays in coverage then these guys also and not to mention no one else cant even tie his sneakers when it comes to hitting.

So roy williams may very well be the most complete safety in football the numbers dont lie league lead in pass deflections and int's = GOOD COVERAGE in my book. just my thoughts.
If Roy Williams is the best and most complete safety in the league, then this league isn't in very good shape as far as safeties go.

Count me as vote #2 on that. The "at best" phrase is freakin annoying now. EVERYONE uses it... not only on the forums but sportswriters are even using it in their articles.

Man its just a beating reading that. We can't just rate people anymore... we have to clarify it and give them a MAXIMUM rating by saying they are "average at best". Its friggin stupid!

PLEASE STOP USING THAT PHRASE PEOPLE!

He also probably leads all safeties in bad angles and dropped INTs. I like roy but am not going to name him the best safety in the league...
