i'm just saying that while i share a respect for roy as i own ~8 roy williams various jerseys, i don't give a whole lot of objectivity to someone who uses a form of his name and uses "BOTTOM LINE!!!" as if that stops all arguments before they can even begin.

So...is that your "BOTTOM LINE!!!" :lmao2:

Sorry, couldn't resist. :)

Based on Dawkins stats from last season.. he was the best Safety in the league last season. No other safety in the league was as good all around statistically in 2005... he led A LOT of the categories.

Dawkins had one more sack than Roy. They tied in interceptions and fumble recoveries, and Roy beat Dawkins in forced fumbles for turnovers and tackles. And our opponents ran 92 fewer plays than the Eagles' opponents (and the second-fewest in the league).

Roy was the first defensive back in at least five years to have at least 2.5 sacks, three interceptions and three forced fumbles for turnovers in the same season.

No safety in the NFL makes more big plays in all phases of the game than Roy does.

I didn't realize the difference in plays run. I just remember looking over the stats after last season and being impressed with Dawkins' performance. I thought many people left him out of the great Safeties discussions far too often and dropped in names like Sean Taylor, Troy Polamalu and Ed Reed... despite the fact that Dawkins had better stats than all 3.

Thanks for the further info Adam.

Pro Bowl voting is a joke, look at Terence Newman not making it yet.... Roy Williams is a good safety not a great one and I certainly don't believe he's the best in the NFL, that honor goes to either Ed Reed or Troy P. right now.

Based on WHAT? It certainly isn't ON THE FIELD performance this season!!!!!

Are there any stats on how many big plays he gives up compared to other safeties?

Not trying to dis Roy but he seems to be more of a Babe Ruth safety. He'll get his homeruns but for how many strike outs.

Me, I like my SAFETIES like Ted Williams.

Ummm.....he's given up two (2) touchdowns this year. Sean Taylor looked like a tool in philadelphia yesterday. I think he gave up two in one game. Not only has Williams made more big plays than any safety in the league, he hasn't given up too many either.

Perhaps you're being a liitle hard on him because you're more familiar with him...or perhaps because you watch him more often than other nfl safeties.

I just said I wasn't dissin' him, I just asked the man if they kept stats on those, too.

I'm a big Roy fan, I just wanted to see how he compared to other safeties in PI's and plays given up down field.

It is called safety for a reason. ;)

By my count, Roy has allowed 2 TD's.
Ed Reed has allowed 3 TD's
Sean Taylor has allowed 5 TD's.

As far as other big plays allowed... Roy hasn't given up any big pass plays other than the 1 PI call in the Commanders game. I'm sure someone will correct me if I have forgotten some. And NO the LJ Smith play was not on Roy... Watkins was suppose to cover LJ Smith.

They don't keep stats on this.. you pretty much just have to watch the games or have a group of people watching various games and keeping count.
