If the Cowboys (or Jerry) wants him, we will definitely get him.

Haven't you been paying attention here?
Ah, the old "Jerry Jones always gets his man" mantra.

That always happens, except for those cases, like Long, where he doesn't.

Then it becomes, well, we didn't "want him" want him.

Going to watch the sites and refresh all day ... only to see him sign a deal with the raiders for 1 year, 1 million with incentives lol

Can’t really judge him for it.

He’s a veteran..he can sign with Oakland for a year and not have to move.

We never actually met with Chris Long.

He met with NE first and signed there right away. This will likely be a similar case.

They had dinner plans all lined up and Long stiffed them. But hey, Jerry Jones always gets his man, right?

Fact of the matter is, we are getting more and more of these situations where our lukewarm interest generates poor results.

Free agents like this want to feel wanted. If we are always second in line, we are not trying hard enough.

But you bet we went after Nolan Carroll with guns blazing. Twice.

Let me correct the above verbiage..."with injury concerns for the Cowboys with their lone good LB, Lee, and their halfway decent LB, Hitchens, the Cowboys could use a healthy LB that doesn't suck because they don't currently have one on their roster. Bowman, even on one leg, would be a significant upgrade to possibly the worst unit on a bad defense, esp if Marinelli doesn't convince him to suck like everyone else."

They should pay me to edit their stuff before they post it and look like idiots.

You would have to quit your job and work full time to keep The Landry Hat from sucking...

Adding Sean Lee, Bowman, Cheeto (and Irving and Hitchens) would bolster this defense big time.

The offense is already playoff worthy, even without Zeke and even with the o-line's "struggles."

If Dallas can’t find a way to sing Bowman, then the FO really doesn’t care about competing this year. Rarely do you find a player like Bowman come free that addresses probably the biggest weakness on defense.

The pretense here is that we expect Jones to sign a guy even when another team who wants him is at the top of his wish list. Which of course we don't.

We might be second because he's on the west coast already or something, not because he doesn't want to play for the Cowboys as much.

I'm late to this party, what time is he supposed to visit Dallas if he does?

They said Monday .... but with Oakland playing Sunday and being on the west coast not sure how that’ll work

If that's the case he should have gone to NO. Drew Brees is on fire!! That dude is just amazing.

Saints are back from the dead after their awful start. Might be back in it, especially seeing what tgeir division looks like.

He's not nearly the player he was before, but he can come in and immediately be the best LB behind Lee. He could start immediately at MLB or WLB if Lee got injured.

With the NFC looking to be wide open, I hope we get him. Just in time to play his old team. Perfect.

JJT last night mentioned the sam. The niners switched their defense to the seattle defense this past offseason and asked bowman to cover a lot of ground at MLB. I wonder if being the sam here and being on the line of scrimmage and playing a more physical spot wouldn't be better for him.

I dont think there is any chance he plays the will, but if he plays the mlb here he could give lee a rest during some games by having hitchens slide over to the will.

Agree with the first part.

The offense has to show me it can be effective against good defenses first.
