Kind of off topic(obviously) but it didn’t deserve its own thread and would probably be moved anyways but Martavis Bryant wants a trade.

Dallas will say they are happy with their receivers but there is some major speed that will likely be cheap.

...Word surfaced on Sunday that the 49ers initially had an agreement to trade Bowman to the New Orleans Saints in exchanged for a seventh-round draft pick, but Bowman wanted to choose his new team and they obliged by releasing him.

This is interesting on its own, and it says that Bowman doesn’t want to play for the Saints. He clearly wants to play for what he views as a contender, and that the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys are first on his list says a lot.

Many would say that neither of those teams are contenders based on the first few weeks of the 2017 season. It is interesting to note though that Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone on Sunday, making the NFC a far more wide open race than it was before. This could legitimately be a factor in Bowman’s decision as the Cowboys theoretically no longer have the Packers to go through...

looks like he made 6.7 last year..can't believe he would be on the cheap.

I wonder how much he is going to make this season from the 49ers. That could be a deciding factor, especially if this is a one year deal.

Martavis is a jag. Doomed if he is your #1

I agree with part of your post.

He is NOT a number one but he has shown to have some elite ability as a big play receiver in the past. He could add a dimension the team doesn’t have.

Only problem will be...it would mean goodbye Noah Brown who I really like.

One question on Bowman that has me concerned. Considering our coaching staff is not great at putting square pegs in round holes, how would a career 3-4 LB work here?

I thought the same thing. However he has been a MLB so the 3-4 LB thing doesn’t concern me as much as it would if he was a 3-4 OLB. The inside guys in the 3-4 are more traditional LBers and should convert well to a 4-3..... based on my understanding. In some ways they may be better vs the run because they have less meat in from of them.

...Dallas’ defense against the run has suffered so far this season, as they currently rank 20th in rushing defense in the NFL. The team is giving up 118.0 rushing yards per contest.

In their last two matchups, the Cowboys have given up a whopping 328 yards on the ground to opposing offenses (Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams). And both games were played without two-time Pro Bowl linebacker Sean Lee in the lineup due to a lingering hamstring injury.

With injury concerns for the Cowboys top three linebackers in Lee, Anthony Hitchens (knee) and Jaylon Smith (knee, drop foot); Dallas could certainly use a stabilizing force within their linebacker corps. Bowman could be that player...

Monster run defender, our run defense is garbage. Immediate improvement there. Even if he can't run as good as he used to, he is a smart dude and can ball. We'll all be like sheewwww!! when he is in there instead of Jaylon if it happens..

I would like to sign him to pair with Sean and improve our run defense. Not the backer he used to be but can be a stout 1-2 down.

Im watching the NBC5 sunday night sports show with Pat Doney and JJT.

JJT just said a source he talked to said Dallas likes Bowman and think they could use him at the MLB or Sam or Move hitchens to the Sam.

Plus maybe in other packages.

so this is more than just hey we kinda like the idea at least its someone figuring out what he would do here. Which by the way is exactly what Brad Sham said he was told on friday, that they need a defined plan for him before they would even really consider this.

Not buying that the Cowboys are really interested in him. They have done this before, as they have brought in so many FA and then they walk out the door not signing. This could be Jerry's plan just to please the fans that at least they tried to sign him. He is not signing here. Obviously I hope I am wrong.

The Dallas motto.....always a day late and a dollar short.....Jerry always seems to sit on his wallet when we need to sign players like this.....
