I don't think thats possible. (with Larry benching 700lbs) If he can bench 500-550 I would be happy!

Back in the day, I did a lot of power lifting. I remember reading that the tensil (sp?) strength of the pectorial muscles is severely taxed in the 550 to 600 pound range. You start getting into the risk that the muscle fabric can't handle the weight. Larry Allen may be a freak in that regards.

So, your point of 500-550 is spot on!

rob would be fat at 300 pounds
I disagree. I'm 6'7". I was 320 last summer and was pretty big, but still not enormous. I'm 265 now and in pretty good shape without pounds and pounds of muscle like a pro would have.

I wouldn't be too worried with him even at 340 when you have a coach that is there just to get you bulked up.

I am assuming that ESPN's weights are from last season. Here is the comparison

Drew B even
D Henson +2
T Romo +6
M Barber +8
J Jones +6
L Polite +2
T Thompson +5
T Copper +6
P Crayton +5
T Glenn +2
S Green -1
T Owens -2
J Rector +4
Tony Curtis +15
A Fasano even
R Hannam +7
B Pierce +13
S Ryan +8
J Witten +4
A Johnson +15
M Tarullo -10
EJ Whitley -8
F Adams -3
M Columbo +3
J Fabini +5
K Kosier -4
P McQuinstan +5
R Petitti -20
A Gurode- -2
S Peterman +5
C Proctor +10
M Rivera -1
S Snell +5

C Canty +21
K Coleman +9
G Ellis -1
J Glymph +2
J Hatcher +12
V Jamison +15
LP Ladouceur -2
J Ratliff +12
M Spears -9
J Ferguson +5
T Johnson +8
M Stanley -4
A Ayodele -1
R Boiman +9
K Burnett +1
B Carpenter +2
R Fowler +7
B James +5
S Shanle +8
Al Singleton +14
D Ware +6
A Glenn +10
A Henry +3
N Jones +8
T Newman +5
J Reeves +2
L Williams -2
J Beriault +11
M Coleman +3
K Davis +7
W Pile +4
P Watkins -1
R Williams +3

S Suisham +6
M Vanderjagt +7
M McBriar +13

I don't know how accurate this is because I am not sure of the dates of the two conflicting weigh in dates. Some of this seems pretty accurate though. However, I thought I heard M Spears say a few weeks ago that he was 305. So, I know his isn't accurate. Petitti has been a yo-yo on the weight scale, but it looks like he shed the bad weight and is now much more lean and muscular. Our TEs look like a bunch of work out fools!

It would be nice if we knew when these weights were taken. They have Montavious Stanley at 310. Wasn't he 340 when we drafted him?
Parcells told him that he was fat and had to lose some weight. Maybe he accomplished it.

I assume these were taken at the final testing day before the players released from offseason workouts for their vacations before camp.

Hatcher is already up to 295? He weighed 283 at the combine just a few months ago. This guy hit jackpot in the genetic lottery.

Using the height and weight rosters of last year compared to this years, we've added 17 lbs. per man on the projected starting defensive front 7 compared to the front 7 we opened the season with last year.

I'm glad that Beriault has put on weight, but Watkins doesn't need to lose a pound.

no one is cat-quick carrying 300 pounds.

Im glad to hear the added bulk for Johnson, though. Hopefully he can maintain it.

Ernie Ladd was.

Al Johnson--311
Last year Big Al came into camp at 300 maybe 305 lbs. Per Mickey he dropped to about 285lbs late last season.

So I'll assume his weight will range between 290 to 300 lbs this season, after training camp and a gruesome season.

I sure hope he improves his technique!!! I don't think his weight has anything to do with his limitations.

At 6-7? That's a bean pole for a lineman. He should be around 340-350.

he's 6'6", and BP will never let any of his Olineman get up to that weight, regardless of height, BP likes Flozell Adams playing at around 325-330, and HE'S 6'7"

Yep

Remember last year he could not work out because of the eye. He played last season out of shape.

not in his upper-body though, he did alot of upper-body work

i was under the impression that his weight/strength was EXACTLY the knock on Johnson. every thing i've seen and heard makes me think he's technically sound. if Gurode had the technique that Johnson has, wouldn't he be starting? he's much more the "mauler" than Johnson. or was...

That's my understanding too as Mickey Spagnola discussed it. Mick talked about Al struggled to keep his weight and strength throughout last season.. which is exactly why he was owned by every DT he faced. Al Johnson was on BaD Radio (1310 The Ticket) several weeks back (end of minicamp)and mentioned that he had gained 15 to 20 pounds of MUSCLE and that he'd been eating a lot but also working in the weight room vigorously.

All I can say is that I'm exstatic about Al Johnson putting on that much muscle and HOPEFULLY tremendously improving his strength. Other than him tipping off the DLine when the ball was going to be snapped, his only problem last season was not being able to physically handle the impsoing DT's he faced... he seemed to have his footwork and technique together (sure as heck was better than Gurode's technique and mental mistakes). SURELY the OLine coaches will remedy him squeezing the ball just before he snapped it giving away the snap to the DLinemen.

I see where Vandie has put on 7 pounds. He is bulking up so he can make some tackles if he has to kick off. He will be a beast on special teams! Parcells likes versatility and Vandie being able to make the big hit will really give him the edge over Suisam in camp!
