We have thrown 24 darts at the RB board and still have no RB 1. We had our chance in the off-season
The RB position is a glaring liability. They better figure something out. Throwing darts is a good analogy and it should be no surprise that it was unsuccessful.

He actually played pretty well. Much better than the beginning of last season.

He was coming off a late season ACL the year before and it took time for him to get back in the swing of things. However, what nobody talked about last year was that he also was learning a new OL system in 2023 while coming back from injury, as well.

The knee + learning Solari’s inside zone system = a steep learning curve for him last year. It was a lot to ask of him to not miss a beat.

Now, after playing all of 2023, this year’s OTA’s and preseason, as well as another year removed from the injury, he looks like a different player than he did in the first half of last year.

It is good news for Dallas and is really nice to see.
That’s great. Watching on tv you really can’t judge much of what oline guys do. I thought late last year he really got better. Serious injuries have a physical and mental component. This oline is young and talented. They will have their struggles but the future looks bright. I’m a big bass fan and think he can step right in next year when Martin leaves. Hoffman shows some growth

Could be to add a new RB or any position if needed. So probably just freeing up some space as "insurance" if they need to add a body.
And it doesn't hurt not to spend it and do the rollover for next year.

nah, our front office are all idiots. They arent going to do Parsons next year. They will tag him.
I think he will be playing under his 5th year option in 2025 as they already picked up. If no new deal, then they can tag him in 2026.

Sorry man, I think you’re whistling past the graveyard if you think MP is gonna play for “peanuts “ next season.. he’s gonna hold out if he has to in order to get his big money.

That could be Jerry’s opportunity to get him for less than the market value in 2026. On second thought, Jerry will get hosed once again. Highest paid player in history…. Book it.

I’ve seen our RB’s and know what they can do. We shouldn’t pretend like our current RB’s are some crop of unknowns.
and you hink Dowdle has ever been given enough consistent carries to actually show what he can or can not do? Getting 3-4 carries here and there in no way paints a picture of what someone can do.

Look at the Niners back Monday night. Had never done anything in 2 years and yesterday looked like an all pro.... because he had consistent carries for an entire game.

You ever think Dowdle might get more consistent carries if he proved he was worth them to the coaches?

Dudes been on the team for like 4 years. The coaches know what he’s capable of and still go out and sign old RB’s. That should tell you a lot.

The guy on the Niners plays behind the best RB in the league in McCaffrey.

Dowdle can’t beat out a guy like Zeke who is eligible for AARP at this stage of his career.

If dowdle actually shows anything. Then I’ll change my mind. Until then, color me skeptical.

I did not say he would play for that. I said he will be on his 5th year option. As there is always that chance a deal deal will be reached, and probably will.
I was stating the facts about his current situation.

The Jones can always do and re-do, restructure existing contracts, ..Steele, Diggs, Martin, ..they could even re-do Dak & Lamb
down the road.

We're not as tight hard up stuck with the cap, as the Jones may like to suggest.
It can be done, several NFL teams are doing it as well.

Question is what important use will the Jones make of the cap room created...
Good question .........but what I can tell over the years is Stephen and Jerry don't trust paying significant money to players not drafted by them UNLESS someone within the team ( coaching staff and/or team scouting) has a connection and can vouch for them. It's why when they do bring w/o this connection, he's a low-risk, low-cost, bottom feeder. I guess they are afraid of taking on another team's trouble.

Example.........Kendrick, Cook and Joseph connection to Zimm or how many players we signed the last couple years with connection to Quinn.

I agree.......something about Dowdle they don't trust. He worked hard during the off-season preparing for a bigger role, yet they signed Cooks and are starting Zeke. Perhaps there are some things off the field they don't like or impact their feelings about him.

How many backs do we see, EVERY YEAR, that get starts because the starter went down and the come out of nowhere and do damn good. It is just like the QB spot. Brock Purdy would still be sitting on the bench today if Trey lance was even decent. But he got a chance. A real chance, not 5-6 minutes of garbage time at the end of the game.

Backs are the same..... you cant show jack squat in practice. Defenses are hitting in practice, offensive lines arent going full speed. Until you get game time, and real game time.... you will never know what someone can do.

Now you’re really getting desperate after seeing the Cowboys dismantle Cleveland while Hurts and Sirianni continue their issues.
That’s Nick “highest winning percentage of any active coach” Sirianni to you

what I think means nothing. Why would they restructure a deal? no clue, Im not sitting in meetings with them to see what they have planned. So therefor I wont criticise something I don't have info on.
I don’t know why or exactly where that puts us in cap space. But we generally add guys as the year goes on or they could be looking at someone. But also money roll to the next year if it’s not spent so timing doesn’t have to mean it’s spent now

My question is why restructure for the purpose of rolling it over….assuming that’s the reason. You’re borrowing from future years only to roll it to future years. Where’s the advantage?

Also….Steeles 17m for 2025 is already fully guaranteed. Unless traded, which this team doesn’t do, he will be here through at least next season.
part true and part not necessarily true. If he was a post 6/1 cut next year his cap hit would be split over a couple of years and then he would be off the books. It would actually save us cap space. I'm not saying he should be cut, just laying out how it would impact our cap if he was
