Does this make you as angry as when we check out Longhorn prospects, Alex? Or is it just a UT thing? ;)

BTW, where's the Lacewell panic coming from? Looks from the bio like this guy played high school in Garland. So the meeting may only be the usual Dallas Day where we meet with local prospects for "free", like we did with Crayton and Reeves.

I don't know much about this guy Bullitt, but he's sure got a cool last name. "Bullitt intercepts the pass, and he's racing toward the endzone like a speeding Bullitt."

:laugh2:

It can go both ways.

"Wow, the RB really dodged a Bullitt there!"
:lmao:

Jerry and Lacewell both said so right after Parcells left. It was all over the local media here in Dallas. Lacewell is on the payroll and he will be in Valley Ranch on a daily basis with Parcells gone. Jerry said that Lacewell is one of his closest friends and advisors and he will be listening to him more that Parcells is gone. Can I jump off the bridge now?????

If you want too ...... but all I remember is some reporter speculating that Lacewell might get more of Jerry's ear with Parcells gone .....

I did not know they called a press conferance announcing that Lacewell was back in charge of the draft at valley ranch .....

could you give me a link to that?

I guess you're not good at "Wheel of Fortune" where they spot you a couple of letters and you have to fill in the blanks to solve the puzzle. Back in December I posted that I saw Lacewell at "The Unveiling" party in Arlington. He was speaking with Jerry privately for a long time and I was VERY concerned about that. Here's the link: http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1231130&postcount=47

My fears came to fruition when Lacewell announced he was back at Valley Ranch and on the payroll in January. Sugar-coat it anyway you want. Lacewell is back whispering in Jerry's ear!!!

Cowboys | Team to visit with Bullitt

John Murphy, of Yahoo! Sports, reports the Dallas Cowboys have scheduled a private visit with Texas A&M S Melvin Bullitt, according to league sources.
NFL | Bullitt works out at Pro Day
Sun, 4 Mar 2007 12:02:28 -0800
Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports Texas A&M S Melvin Bullitt measured a height of 6-1 1/4 and a weight of 201 pounds at his Pro Day March 3. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.50 seconds and 4.48 seconds. He finished the short shuttle in 3.97 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.90 seconds. He measured a 40 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-5 broad jump and completed 15 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.

Jerra will no doubt go for him!!!!!
Thx!!!!!:)

All this Lacewell talk is Chicken Little BS. Ireland is the guy gathering data and having the input to Jerry.

I get it, people want to whine, but at least have something of substance to back up these lame threads that make Jerry the devil and Pacewell polishing his trident.

If this is what your talking about this is not new and was not as if Lacewell was not around at all when Parcells was here.

There aren't many people that Jerry Jones respects more than Larry Lacewell.

And while the longtime scouting director for the Cowboys retired two years ago when the team hired Jeff Ireland to run the scouting department and the drafts, Jones said he remains very close with Lacewell, who has stayed on the payroll as a consultant.

"He never left," Jones said of Lacewell, a coached 33 years on the collegiate level before joining the Cowboys in 1992. "Lace evaluated every game we had last year. He took the tapes, has the machines. He's done it all. He will always have my ear . . . we were at the Super Bowl when I was batting around this decision I had to make here."

Look, guys. Ireland is in charge of scouting and for the team to talk to a prospect it has to be going through him. If Lacewell comes in and starts calling the shots, Ireland will be out of there before the draft even gets here. I highly doubt thats what is happening. Most likely this is a guy they want to look at for a later round or UFA possibility. Truthfully, I'm not worried about all the Lacewell speculation. He may still have Jerry's ear but I don't think it will supercede Ireland and the rest of the scouts. Ireland may find himself evaluating a player or two that Lacewell recommends to Jerry but if Ireland comes back with a negative report I would think it would be a dead issue.

I agree. Jerry hired Ireland and I expect that relationship to continue as is.

Kemp apparently has some semi-serious trouble with the law... seems he's accused of breaking into a car and stealing over 1000 dollars worth of stuff... I'm gonna want to see how that's resolved before I'd consider signing him...

The legal stuff is something to be concerned about but I have read and heard some things that say he was in no way trying to steal anything. Just had the booze involved and tempers ran a little high and he just took it out on the car. Im not saying that anything happened either way but there needs to be more found out.

Really appears to be more of a one time thing but who knows.

Bullitt is a Hell of an athlete who had his fair share of acrobatic defelections and INTs in college. He's also a great hitter as he played LB in HS and part of college.

He'd be a decent 6th/7th round pick IMO

I know. I'm just getting very worried about Lacewell's potential new influence on Jerry with Parcells gone. Bullitt isnt even listed on many mock Draft depth charts. It's one thing to spend money on visiting a guy who's projected to go in the first 5 or 6 rounds, but I dont know of many mock boards this guy is projected to be taken in any round. I hope they're not visiting this guy in lieu of solid round 1-4 players they could pick, and I fear the Lacewell II era. Can you say Mike Ulufale?
