'Boys to visit with safety prospect... Melvin Bullitt

All this Lacewell talk is Chicken Little BS.

From today's Matt Mosely column on ESPN:

The Cowboys have chased their draft failures by shelling out over $30 million in signing bonuses to free-agent offensive linemen. Former Cowboys director of scouting Larry Lacewell, who is Jones' close friend, said he and Jones spent a lot of time at the recent NFL scouting combine discussing the offensive line.

"I kept telling him that we've never fixed it," Lacewell said. "If you have the chance to fix it, you have to do it. I believe [Davis] can play at an All-Pro level."

Don't let the pieces of actual sky hit you on the head.

If this is what your talking about this is not new and was not as if Lacewell was not around at all when Parcells was here.

There aren't many people that Jerry Jones respects more than Larry Lacewell.

And while the longtime scouting director for the Cowboys retired two years ago when the team hired Jeff Ireland to run the scouting department and the drafts, Jones said he remains very close with Lacewell, who has stayed on the payroll as a consultant.

"He never left," Jones said of Lacewell, a coached 33 years on the collegiate level before joining the Cowboys in 1992. "Lace evaluated every game we had last year. He took the tapes, has the machines. He's done it all. He will always have my ear . . . we were at the Super Bowl when I was batting around this decision I had to make here."

Like we have said the whole time ..... he never was not here ..... so I am not concerned about what he does suddenly.

Coach Parcells was able to get him out of the picture though. And for that we should be grateful.

I am very distressed to see him back (or at least have a louder voice again). It is a horrible, horrible development.

Our back-up safety tandem.

I wonder if teaming Keith Davis with a guy named Bullitt is a good idea.

:laugh2:

:lmao2:

You beat me to it. We got Bullitt and the Bullet magnet on the same team. :D

If I were KD I wouldn't want that guy anywhere near the team.

He is just in Jerry's circle of friends ...... like he has always been ..... Wade, Ireland and that young coaching staff will be Jerry's main guys on making descisions .... Dont forget that Garrett's father was also a talent guy ....

Keep telling yourself that.

Ok ...... you keep on thinking doom and gloom ..... I guess someone has too

Not gloom and doom.

Lacewell is back and has a voice again.

That's reality, zrinkill. Deny it all you wish.

I hope Mister Jones does tune him out or at least challenges some of his perspectives, but I wonder if he will.

But such Machavellian thoughts about ol' Jerra and his counsel.

Sometimes things are just what they are.

Jerra meets lots of football guys. So what is the big deal re Lacewell? I'd be more alarmed if I saw Jerra with Gil Brandt. :)

Now go git rid of them negative thoughts, young Simon.:laugh1:

Lacewell is in the same place he has been since he retired ........ as Jerry's friend and payed counsel .......

That is reality Alex. Try it ...... its good .....

Lacewell never went anywhere, and he's had a voice all along... he is one of Jerry's confidants...

I'm still confident that Jeff Ireland has more juice when it comes to personnel decisions than Lacewell does...

That's about 60 CDs, at today's prices... if she had one of those 48 CD cases, and a 12 CD sleeve on her visor, you're there...

I only carry about 25 CDs in a case, myself, but others are more into music than I am... my nephew has one 36 CD case full of rap and hip hop, another 24 CD case full of good music I've turned him on to... Springsteen, Seger, Croce, Buffett, Eagles, Raitt...

There's hope for that boy yet... LOL...

Lacewell is a known 4-3 guy yet Jerry hires Phillips to continue with the 3-4 so he evidently did not listen to suggestions of hiring one of the other candidates.

There you go with that darn thing called logic again

Where are you getting that he will be relying on Lacewell from?
Same question I was going to ask. You beat me to it, buddy.

Lacewell has always been in the picture, IMO. Jerry has always listened to what he had to say... even when Parcells was here.

Ireland is the man now and for the last couple of years, and he's going to have more input to Jerry than anyone else.

No big deal Lacewell telling Jerry he likes this guy or that.
