Too many around here have forgotten the horror that was Al Johnson and him sitting on his butt play after play.

I'm wishing you wouldn't have reminded me right now.

The top 3 centers can play all 3 inside positions. They would all be pretty good....with our 3rd.

Max Unger C and Duke Robinson
I'd be ecstatic with Robinson. Can't see us going Center in the 3rd and him being there. Too much need elsewhere to think of Gurode's replacement.

Some depends on Austin now. Losing him means possibly trading up with a need pick at WR. I'd be happy with our first two being OL and I like those two.

We will likely only go with 6-8 picks probably six. That's a lot of trading although some will be for next year.

Unger, IMO, is going to anchor an OL for the next decade. The guy can play and he is definitely no Al Johnson.

I'd be thrilled with those two, although we'd have too many interior OL if we did that.

We would have Unger at C and Gurode, Bigg Davis, Duke Robinson, Kosier and Holland at G.

Dallas isn't so strong at other positions that we can afford to have Holland as our 5th guard.

We might get one of those two... but I can't see us getting both.

I wouldn't mind it if they drafted both but I agree we need a LT replacement as much as a backup center. Either are critical. If Proctor can do it then great. He's already here. Although I don't think he's as bad as some think he's clearly not an All-Pro center.

While I'm not in love with Phil Loadholt, the Cowboys apparently are and he'd be a better pick strategy wise along with Unger. Unger can play all three interior positions projects to OG. He and Loadholt would be a load.

I wouldn't be overly upset, no. It would give us the depth I believe we badly need on our O-line.

.

and thats what is called "overkill"

besides, Unger has ZERO chance of ever starting ahead of Gurode right now.

I would bet that the Giants and Eagles have a higher opinion/value of Gurode now.
He was one of the few centers in the league to ever frustrate Haynesworth to the point were he had to step on his face.

Maybe another Eric Williams > Reggie White battle in the making.

I like Gurode...he might not be bright, but he is a far better center than at least 2/3 of his competition.

He has no chance to start now but if we lose Gurode we need a capable backup. Unger is projected to be able to play all the interior linemen spots. And he is probably capable of replacing Gurode down the line.

Right now on the OL we are weak at LT and C in terms of backups. Losing Flo and/or Gurode would likely be a problem for us. We could do a lot worse than draft Unger and Robinson (or put the appropriate OL draftees there). Of course that's just one scenario out of many that would be good for us.

Jerry!!!! Listen to us. Work on the LOS please. Romo can't hit a speedy WR running for his life. Well not often enough.
