If given the choice of a guard or a center that can also play guard, I'd take the versatile player. We really need a tackle.

He has no chance to start now but if we lose Gurode we need a capable backup. Unger is projected to be able to play all the interior linemen spots. And he is probably capable of replacing Gurode down the line.

Right now on the OL we are weak at LT and C in terms of backups. Losing Flo and/or Gurode would likely be a problem for us. We could do a lot worse than draft Unger and Robinson (or put the appropriate OL draftees there). Of course that's just one scenario out of many that would be good for us.

Not saying we couldnt use some quality depth and possible future starters everywhere on the OL, but either Kosier or Holland will be a backup at 1 G spot this yr and either of those is more than capable there. I jsut dont see where it makes alot of sense to use early picks on interior OL's, when its clear they have little to any chance of winning a starting job now. Middle to late rd picks, am all for it.

Unger is best used in a zone scheme.

Dallas will not draft a center in round 2, because they have one in their prime who is the best in the NFC for sure.

Didn't we just jettison a 5-time Pro Bowler because he couldn't play? Guess what, Gurode isn't not a legitimate Pro Bowler at center either. I'm not saying he's worthless or even that he's not good player. He is, however, overhyped and doesn't get the job done well enough at the center position.
