For the first time since 2015, Alfred Morris will reportedly be a starter when he lines up at running back for the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Per Jane Slater of the NFL Network, Morris will be the Cowboys starting running back on Sunday.

Kate Hairopoulos of the Dallas Morning News reported Monday that Ezekiel Elliott's temporary restraining order was dissolved, resulting in his six-game suspension going into effect.

The NFL Players Association filed a motion with the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday on Elliott's behalf to seek an emergency injunction that would allow him to keep playing.

This article will be updated to provide more information on this story as it becomes available.

Morris will get the bulk of the work if he performe.

This team likes to have a bellcow under Garrett.

Im not excited either.

Just gotta hope the offense is so hot we don’t miss a massive beat. Gotta hope for many 3 and outs from our defense.

What is wrong with McFadden, he didn't look bad in preseason. I think he will start soon even after Zeke comes back. It will take a few games to get Zeke back inro rythm.

McFadden ran for a thousand in 2015, he has speed and is a far better reciever.

My gut feeling is that he is the X factor, hidden away to keep him fresh. I think he will really help the team get through the suspension.

The Morris start in Elliott absence was very predictable. I would like to see some of young Smiths carries too.
I hate to say this but I don't see Morris having near as much success as RSmith and DMac. If Morris starts running into brick walls early I HOPE that JG has the sense to change pace with the other backs. JG keeps talking about a "plug in another back and things will fine" plan and he better be ready for plan B and plan C if Morris struggles early.

No rotation...FEED Morris! Did some stat digging and found that the Commanders had a 13-8 record when Morris got 20+ carries in his career. He averaged 107.4 yards/game and 4.56 yards/carry in those games. He's a workhorse so let him loose! :flagwave:

I agree but Morris will probably be given the start. McFadden hasn't seen the field since preseason and will need to be worked in.

Yeah, agreed. Morris is a runner that thrives on work...well, before and, like you, I don't think he will hold up. McFadden has talent but not for the tough yards or when it counts. Smith is someone I wanted to see what he could do. The truth is the Cowboy offense is in trouble without a star RB like Elliott. People can say what they want, Elliott was the soul of the offense along with the Line. Neither Morris or DMF are in the same class or even near it. That's the real, hard truth.

Starting Morris is a huge mistake IMO, I rather start Smith and of course I prefer Dmac as well. How many times will we have to see Morris snuffed at the los before he is replaced. Stupid move...
Agreed. The OL has a big role in the success of RB's also. That was Elliotts big problem earlier on.

I've said all along that McFadden would be the primary ball carrier if Zeke is suspended. I also said that I thought it wouldn't happen for a game or two because he needs to knock the rust off. However, if Morris were to come in the first game or two and play extremely well, he'll probably become the primary RB.

Morris is averaging 8.1 YP Carry and 9 YP Catch. He was stymied in the Giants and Commanders games, but that was on 4 and 3 carries respectively.

Anyway, they'll have Morris be the bell-cow, and give Smith a series each half, more if we somehow have a lead at the end. McFadden they start slow since he hasn't had game action this year, and he only earns more if either of the others can't deliver. Maybe he gets a series in the first half, too, and they decide who to lean on in relief in the second based on that.

Not a chance in hell anybody starts over Zeke, once Zeke comes back. Rust or no rust.
