Good pointwhy? If the goal this season was for Jerry "I'm mad!" Jones to make them prove it..why not let Dak fail before he hits FA?

Shadeur...... be thy nameWhat exactly would we get with the top 10 another OT?? It's going to be a QB, now remember Jerry doesn't like that neither do the fans on here who are more important than Jerry and have all his money!!! They don't want us to start over they want it to be Dak for life
He surely would fill the seatsShadeur...... be thy name
I kow what he said.. I also remember someone saying "I did not have sexual relations with that woman." What is said in public isnt always the truth.Im pretty sure Jerry said "Im going to wait for the tea leaves" or whatever but yeah he waited because he wanted to see what other WR were getting..same with the QB...
The media would discuss it 24/7...... right up Jerry's alleyHe surely would fill the seats
Jerry: Maicha, we love you and your play. Wed like to offer you a 5 year 300 million dollar deal toorrow, with 250 million guaranteed and 150 million cash at signing. How does that sound? The issue is the Cowboys should not be caught off guard by what any of these guys are looking for financially. The difference in annual salary between Waddle and what Lamb will make is likely 1 maybe 2% of the cap. This really should not be the difference in getting a deal done or not, and if it is a deal breaker for the Cowboys this all could have been avoided months ago...maybe even a year ago by having real negotiations with these guys and exploring mutual separations via trade if they were too far apart on numbers.
The big reason a guy like Trevor Lawrence isnt an issue with his major contract is that he signed an extension with two years of control of his rookie deal. Waddle same story, he signed with two years on his rookie deal. Amon Ra St Brown signed year 3. Jalen Hurts signed after year 3. The Cowboys on the other hand decided to play the franchise tag game with Dak, and now are waiting until his deal is basically up to negotiate. Lamb is on his 5th year option. Parsons is about to be on his 5th year option. The issue really isnt the AAV these guys are going to make, it's literally the fact that the Cowboys wait until the last minute to make decisions on these player.
If the Cowboys would actually sign parsons now after his 3rd season they would have two additional years where he is making just 2.1% and 7.8% of the cap to spread what is soon to be a massive number across over more years. Had they signed Lamb last season, not only would his cap number be closer to what Waddle is making, but they could have worked some of that cap hit into his 2023 number which was just 1.9% of the cap.
The Cowboys are in this position not because they have so much more talent than the rest of the league, but because they continue to negotiate like it's 1997 and just hope to wait out the player. Other teams are either signing these guys early or looking at trade options. Meanwhile the Cowboys are looking at holdouts and collecting comp picks for their star players. If the Cowboys want to avoid bending over and accepting whatever they need to address these contracts first thing in the offseason and establish who they can keep and who they need to find other homes.
Then Jerry should be putting in calls to 31 other teams. Thats the problem is he’s not in control.Jerry: Maicha, we love you and your play. Wed like to offer you a 5 year 300 million dollar deal toorrow, with 250 million guaranteed and 150 million cash at signing. How does that sound?
Micha: Jerry, pound rocks. I will wait to see the market.
Fans on the Zone... Jerry is stupid and always waits.
TruthThe media would discuss it 24/7...... right up Jerry's alley
thisI don’t believe any team has ever found themselves in that situation. Most teams, however, make a decision on whether or not they intend to keep a player and sign them to extensions immediately after making the decision.
exactly right. The issue is the Cowboys should not be caught off guard by what any of these guys are looking for financially. bingo. Jerrah has no leverage or control. Then Jerry should be putting in calls to 31 other teams. Thats the problem is he’s not in control.
Trade him as he is NOT worth 30 + millionBecause he’s not honoring his contract.
Therefore he is getting fined big every day (somewhere around $50,000 per day)
He deserves losing every dollar.
exactly. Jerry literally said the words waiting for leaves to fall. Its pretty clear.Im pretty sure Jerry said "Im going to wait for the tea leaves" or whatever but yeah he waited because he wanted to see what other WR were getting..same with the QB...
Didn't the Lions just give their QB and WR massive contract extensions?Tell me when they have had 2 players at the top of the salary schedule needing deals at the same time. Show me, historically, when this has happened in Dallas... AND having Parsons sitting there in the wings as well. name me a single team in the NFL right now that has the top 2 players at their position, money wise... and a 3rd that is going to want o be the highest paid non qb in NFL history sitting there waiting.
I didn't consider the FT. But why go through that trouble when you have multiple teams that need a WR now? Patriots and Panthers just to name a few. Also, signing him now is more cap friendly than signing him next year. But you're right. They could tag and trade him next year.Actually he has more trade value because when you franchise tagged the guy they're gonna have to trade draft picks and promise them a high contract I don't understand how you can not understand that they can't trade him now because there's not as many suitors you got brain and IU out there eating people up... I don't think you understand what the franchise tag is and I promise you if they don't get a deal done he will be tagged next year and he will not be going anywhere without a trade do you understand what a franchise tag means they must give you a draft pick he is not a full free agent they will tag him this is the type of player you tagged they tagged Prescott you don't think they're gonna tag lamb?
I say he'll have more people involved early in free agency when more teams will be actively trying to get him then right now almost everybody's rosters are set he has less trade value right now than I than in March when they tag him he is not a full free agent is dak, the only one with a no trade clause and that can't be tagged and he's gone if he doesn't get a new contract that is not the case with Parsons or lamb they won't tag them to death...
It depends upon what the meaning of the word is is.What is said in public isnt always the truth.
Are their qb and wr the highest paid in the nfl at their positions? That's what ours want.Didn't the Lions just give their QB and WR massive contract extensions?
No. But they are still high end market value. But like you said before, they also got Parsons. Are their qb and wr the highest paid in the nfl at their positions? That's what ours want.
The silence of the Lamb.
and the year after lol .. And like I said right now we've already been past free agency we're already through training camp almost in the preseason his trade value in my opinion there'll be more people wanting him next year when they're building their teams early... The only person on this team right now that has all the leverage is Prescott he's got no franchise tag no trade clauses he's got everything in his contract that says he will be a free agent and he showed up that's my point this city lamb one of the only players that didn't show up for camp looking for a new deal I mean most of them at least showed up even if they didn't start participating they all showed up and most of them got paid already I mean Brandon iuke is going through the same thing but he showed up the problem here is I know that lamb's gonna get a new deal from the Cowboys and he should too and I don't need him to be practicing right now and getting hurt however I find it odd he hadn't at least reported talk to the ownership maybe he doesn't participate in practice soft tissue injury needs to workout get in shape blah blah blah instead of this drama that we're seeing every day in social media there's at least five stories on city Land's situation which hasn't changed in a month it's the same and we're talking about it here the man will get paid but I guarantee game one he'll be here suited up new deal or not he is not gonna keep losing this kind of money he's on the books for $1 million a game let that sink in... I believe if he's holds out preseason games as well he's gonna already be about 1,000,000 in in fines and it's gonna keep building but there is no way he's gonna not suit up for game one and lose his free agency status as well I don't know the rules on that but I believe you have to at least play 10 games.. This is why I'm not worried the man will show up for game one and as long as he like Chris Jones did end up getting signed right before the season but either way as long as he's in practice getting ready for the Browns that's all I care about right now but I am not worried about losing lamb or Parsons they are locked in...I didn't consider the FT. But why go through that trouble when you have multiple teams that need a WR now? Patriots and Panthers just to name a few. Also, signing him now is more cap friendly than signing him next year. But you're right. They could tag and trade him next year.
