Wade Wilson never added anything to our Super bowl runs in that era, he was at best tailend add maybe on last Super Bowl win in 95 season.

Johnson looks plain uncomfortable out there. Way too many miss cues and fumbles all camp.

There has to be a better choice out there come the season opener.

For example, who?

Brad should be a coach and the team should pick up a viable option at QB. I have seen quadriplegics with stronger arms than his. What ever happend to Tommy Maddox

Actually he has proven that he COULD win games...still CAN win games is now in question.

This is my problem with it... He looks just like he did at Minnesota last year when they took a nose dive... I had thought he just got beatup during the season and needed time to rest but that doesn't seem to be it. We might ought to look to see which veteran QB Tampa Bay dumps cause I guarantee they could not be worse...<sigh> they may be just as bad but not worse.

Romo Looked Awesome! Johnson looked Funny, i think we should worry about our backup QB, we have an awesome line but you just never know...

Its not much to go on but from what i saw today? Id put Moore infront of Johnson Immeditely

Worry won't help.
But I agree that Moore should backup Romo, and that Brad should throw passes no mo...and that's where the rap must end...

I think Brad Johnson going to be the suprise cut, diffently if Richard Bartel shows up and Matt Moore stays consistent.

And yet, what did that graphic say? Something about 5th best completion percentage or summin' like that?

Yeah, we get it. His arm strength sucks.

However, unlike Bartel or Moore, he has experience. And unlike Bartel or Moore, he has proven he can win games and be a starting QB at the NFL level.

He once HAD that ability, I sincerely doubt he has it any more...

You want to replace Johnson who has no arm with Maddox who has a worse arm? The reason he's out of the league is he blew out his elbow.

There is no doubt that Brad has the experience but all that experience won't help much if he can't throw the ball beyond ten yards to stretch the defense.

Johnson can throw the ball more than 10 yards he had a few last year of over 40. He will be able to do the job.

I didn't like this signing and still don't.

That said, he is still the best option we had at that point in time.

I'm not comfortable with him, but I'm resigned to the fact that for what we needed he was the best fit.

Now you know why Commanders fans celebrated when we signed him.

Yeah, I'm right there with you Hos.

I wish we would have made an effort to keep Bledsoe around as a back-up, but apparently he wasn't interested in that.

Now, at this point in the season, I don't know if there are any better options out there. But I will be very nervous if we are forced to start Brad at some point this season. :(

I'm not a big Bledsoe fan, but I prefer him. If he could be talked out of retirement to be the backup I'd honestly be happier.

Let Witten, Crayton, or Stanback be the holder on PATs and FGs.

Like I said though, I'm resigned to the fact he's the best option for our current needs based on who was/is available.

The only game I want to see Johnson starting this year, is the final game against the Redsk*ns, after we've locked up homefield through the playoffs.

Let him beat up on his old team, then!

You'd be nervous if you had to start Johnson at some point this season?

Hate to pull a Mr. Obvious, but that's why he is a backup. Unless you are a team that has a veteran QB and is developing a young QB to take over in the near future, nearly every team is in the same situation; the situation of their season being in a lot of turmoil if their starting QB went down.

Look at some of the elite QBs in the league; Manning, Brady, Brees, Palmer.

Sorgi? Cassell? Jamie Martin? Doug Johnson?

None of those teams want to turn to their backup QBs at any point either.

Brad Johnson is what he is: a veteran QB who throughout his career, has been accurate. He's been a solid QB. He's shown he can get it done. Sure, he's not what he once was. But we are no worse off than a majority of teams that have a good starting QB.

Romo goes down; we aren't contending. Same could be said for the Colts (if Manning goes down), Bengals (if Palmer goes down), Patriots (if Brady goes down), Chargers (if Rivers goes down), etc.

We have what looks like a very good starting QB, a veteran backup QB, and if Moore makes the team, a developmental guy who we can try and groom into a backup QB.
