Somehow, I don't think he stays healthy, or off of social security for very long. In the meantime we've got a QB mess of our own: Romo's contract & no backup for our backup other than Matt Baker. We need to be proactive with the backup QB's backup situation. We must cover ourselves in the event that Johnson was a sixteen year wonder--that means a backup's backup who can actually play for more than a kneel-down at the end of 3 games, or luck his way into getting a headset. Also, we need to draft a QB with some major potential, we really blew it last year by not taking Charlie Whitehurst out of Clemson. How do you guys see this mess getting starightened out? Please, don't bring up the name Ricky Ray as part of any solution. Thoughts?

Recent article quoted Jerry or Stephen saying that they may look at QB in the draft.

I think the idea is to draft a young QB, groom him and see if he pans out as either a backup or future starter worthy of draft picks from another team.

What's it going to be then, eh?

No, we really will rue not drafting Kellen Clemens.

Realistically, QBs like Whitehurst are available every year. We just need to be in the mood.

But I agree, having two young quarterbacks with potential is nice (no, I don't count a body like Baker).

realistically, all I did there was copy a philo post and substitute Johnson and backup's backup in there....I suck at satire...whatever.

But this is a topic that needs to be discussed, brothers.

Well gents it looks as if JJ, pretending to be a GM, has done it again. On the day that Joey Harrington is released, he goes ahead and signs the ancient Brad Johnson (perhaps he threw in a cane and walker to seal the deal. LOL). This decision is a poor one. Johnson is not the QB he once was, not even close.
I read one argument from someone on this board stating all we have to do to ensure Johnson's success is to give him good blocking. Yeah, like we've done that so well over the past 5 years or so. LOL. Drew Bledsoe will look like another Michael Vick when compared to Johnson. BJ is like Vinny T "Lite".
Harrington offers youth, arm strength and mobility. He would compliment Romo well. JJ should consider null and voiding the Johnson contract this a.m. and go out and sign Harrington. Won't happen of course, but JJ blew it again with this one. The thought of Brad Johnson coming off the bench and having to play 4-5 games or more is scary. Let's hope Romo stays healthy and performs as well as he did last season. If not, we got a huge problem.

Well, this didn't take long.

I was just asking myself how long it would be before you or Philo started a new thread griping about Brad Johnson.

I'm going to nickname you guys the Window Twins because you're transparent.

Sorry Hostile, this was a blunder of epic proportions that deserves discussion.

I believe Jimmy wanted to surround Romo with people that have a mind for the game. First with Garrett, next with Wilson and now Brad Johnson. Harrington doesn't have nearly the experience Jimmy was looking for to help the young Tony Romo. I don't have a problem with the Brad Johnson signing, I just hope he doesn't have to play. :)

It has been discussed ad nauseum since yesterday in no less than 10 threads. Find one of them and gripe away.

I think the reason he was signed is because he is a vet. QB and Romo will have another voice to listen to. That is the only reason I would see signing him. I would have perfered a younger Joey Harrington also. But you don't want Romo listening to a QB who has yet to figure it out.

If he was signed only to coach Romo, then why in the same heck do we have a QB coach on the payroll??? Sorry guy, a backup has to be able to come in off the bench and actually play if necessary. No way Johnson can do that anywhere close to the level he did 5-10 years ago.

That's why they call it backup qb. Because they feel like he'll get as many snaps as did Bledsoe after he lost his job. Plus who was Harrington's qb coach in Miami? What does that say about Harrington?
