I have noticed a lot lately that some announces will start discussing a subject or player and completely ignore the game. Sure you can see what's going on but they're talking about something else. I forget which game I was watching but the announcers were talking about the life story of a player or coach or something while the game was going on and they basically ignored the game for 5 minutes. It was bizarre.

If you ever have a chance to listen to Wayne Larrivee with the Packers, he's the epitome of a radio announcer. That guy paints a verbal picture every snap and will give you perspective on how bad Sham is.

Being their age I can relate although I retired early. But for different reasons. I still kept a foot in the door and available for consultation.

Attitudes at 70+ are don’t really care what anyone else thinks . Going to throw it out there and speak your mind.

Let legends go out on their own terms .

Leave Brad, Babe, and Kristi alone.
No it's ok to criticize him. In fact it should be pointed out that his incredible weight gain is also affecting him. He looks like he consumes a lot of carbs and soda.

He used to be great before he got drunk on his "icon" treatment. Now, he thinks he has no rules. Loves to insert his politics (as does Babe and Kristi). Loves to lecture the fans about what we're supposed not see and not think.

He once got kicked out of the booth for a couple of years by Jerry for being critical of the organization. He was the real deal then.

Now he's just a bought-and-paid-for sycophant.

That was the season of their last SB season in 95, they replaced him with a complete homer. But yes Brads lost his ooooomph. Him and Dale Hanson, and before that Vern Lundquist were the glory years for Brad. Hard to listen to him now.

I know I’m in the minority but I still enjoy their broadcasts. If I can sync it up I prefer to listen to them over most tv commentators. At least they are biased for my team. I always feel tv commentators make it a point to crap all over Dallas and fawn over how spectacular ‘X’ player is on the team we play against.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who realizes this. Sham is so bad now...I can deal with the lack of enthusiasm but I can't deal with announcers constantly getting things wrong, especially when you're on a radio broadcast and the listener doesn't have a visual of the game. Sham constantly messes up players, plays, penalties, game situations, etc.

This isn't a sport like baseball where the game moves slowly...you need to be able to stay on top of it in football for radio play-by-play.

Brad Sham, the legendary Cowboys radio play caller, has had an illustrious 40 year career. I’ve listed to him since I was a kid, so his voice is nostalgic and synonymous with Cowboys football.

But it’s reached a point where he needs to either retire or be politely asked to leave. The guy is so unbelievably monotone and he can’t keep up with the game in real-time anymore. He’s worse than Al Michaels is at this point, and that’s really saying something.

Let some new blood in the booth.
..lol.. never heard of the guy. But I can understand..

And he’s right. Some just can’t handle the truth. I’m sure if he was peddling the “entertainment news “ you’d be all aboard.

Brad calls the game on radio as if you are watching it. He is terrible

for example, he’ll say the ball is caught by Lamb, that’s it. Doesn’t tell us where he caught it.
I have never liked Sham and your example is partly why. He doesn't allow me to picture the game in my head. I need to hear more of the direction the teams are going and marking the yard lines off as the play proceeds. I remember one time when he called a pass play and it was very basic, like, "pass to Owens tackled by Jones................". I have no idea where it was - near side, middle of the field, far sideline. I'm sitting there waiting..... finally he says, "That is a 37 yard gain." That's it!! Nothing else. This was not a one-off. He does it all the time. He is bad. Maybe it isn't noticed because everyone is bad, but he is bad. Listen back in the 70's with Bill Mercer, Verne Lundquist, Frank Glieber and you will see what good radio broadcasts are like. Again, Sham is BAD!!
