He is not good anymore but atleast he is not corny. Some of those announcers with their tag lines when a team scores is sillly.

Brad Sham, the legendary Cowboys radio play caller, has had an illustrious 40 year career. I’ve listed to him since I was a kid, so his voice is nostalgic and synonymous with Cowboys football.

But it’s reached a point where he needs to either retire or be politely asked to leave. The guy is so unbelievably monotone and he can’t keep up with the game in real-time anymore. He’s worse than Al Michaels is at this point, and that’s really saying something.

Let some new blood in the booth.
All these guys that were already OLD in 1995, need to be force-retired. Bradshaw, Al Michaels....time to go.

Brad calls the game on radio as if you are watching it. He is terrible

for example, he’ll say the ball is caught by Lamb, that’s it. Doesn’t tell us where he caught it.
Absolutely. I rarely ever listen to radio for any sports. The last time I listened to Sham was in 2020, the start of the Vikings game. Awful awful awful. Time before that was Thanksgiving 2018 with my uncle after a family event.

Radio isn't tv. You have to paint a picture. Tell everything that happened since we can't see. He never resets the game. Tell you where on the field the play is happening. Yards gained, reset the game every so often. I listened 10 minutes on Thanksgiving and we had no idea what the score was, where the ball was on the field.

Maybe he was good at some point but how can anyone listen to him now and think that's good?

Never liked his voice or tone as a play-by-play commentator. Not suitable for that imho. I am surprised he lasted this long tbh.

America's Team deserves better. But, hey, we are in the Jerry Cowboys era, so everything

He used to be great before he got drunk on his "icon" treatment. Now, he thinks he has no rules. Loves to insert his politics (as does Babe and Kristi). Loves to lecture the fans about what we're supposed not see and not think.

He once got kicked out of the booth for a couple of years by Jerry for being critical of the organization. He was the real deal then.

Now he's just a bought-and-paid-for sycophant.
Me looking up sycophant on the internet

Brads call when Ceedee caught the
toe-tapper might be the worst I’ve ever heard. That was an amazing catch and a dime by Dak. He did absolutely nothing to express the greatness of that catch.

The “walk the dog” line makes me wretch. I only listen during highlights and radio spots.
It’s time for him to hang it up.

Hey does anyone know why Ambar Garcia wears shades during the podcast? Does she have sensitive eyes or a medical condition?

That's right.

I've posted this before -- actually years ago now -- but I don't think it's that he's lost it mentally. I say that because I caught a little bit of him calling a Cotton Bowl game and he was much better than he is with the Cowboys -- he was more attentive and was describing the action much better.

I think the problem is that he's too comfortable in the booth with Babe. It's like they're two old buddies sitting in the stands watching the game together. They get to joking around with each other so much, he doesn't paint the picture for the listener.

I, for one, enjoy Brad Sham and I’ll miss hearing him when he’s gone. Sadly, I think older announcers have trouble because their eyesight starts to go. They can’t see jersey numbers as well, miss fumbles and incompletions, that kind of thing.

I once wrote Sham a letter years ago to tell him I appreciate his work, and he wrote back to say I’m the type of fan he’s talking to during games.

Brad is still great. Who are you replacing him with? He won't live up to Brad I promise you. Easy to criticize but never offer a solution because it will expose your knowledge on this topic
