Bradie James: Philip Rivers was calling our defense out

We scored on our opening possesion, then allowed SD to answer for 90 yards including giving up a 3rd and 12 on SD's own 10 yard line.

We go 99 yards for a TD, and then allow SD to answer again, with ANOTHER completion on 3rd and 12, after an offsides pushed it back 5 yards from 3rd and 7.

The defense folds when it matters and it kills all momentum this team has.

The offense had its troubles but the D couldn't get a 3 and out to give the O more chances. IMO it was both sides of the ball that failed today.

Maybe I'm wrong but wouldnt the way to shut Rivers up be to shut em down? Novel concept, but this defense has played just good enough to lose five time this year, with three on deck.

I'll admit that the defense has issues but I also think that they would look a lot better if they were given a few points to help them out. Dallas tied the game at the end of the 3rd quarter, right? Last play wasn't it? Through 3 quarters the offense spotted them 3 points and then 7 to end the quarter.

The defense does have timely collapses but they definitely played well enough to win. I honestly think one of this team's problems is that they lack the mindset to persevere.

When something goes wrong, it just seems like the entire team falls into a "here we go again" mode and it isn't until a big play is made before they regain composure.

The majority of the losses this year have been from struggles on the other side of the ball.

NY game 1, DEN, GB and today all had offensive problems.

Last week was a defensive let down but you can't field a team without anything happening on offense.

I think a little bit of pass rush would have helped out today. it seems that even when we brought 6, SD was able to pick it up.

I thought Jenkins and Ball probably had their best games today

I saw him get in the face of Demarcus Ware. He's a punk. Ware was too classy to retaliate.

Dislike his attitude all you want but it's that kind of confidence/cockiness that wins ball games. I would love to have a few punks like him on this team

exactly, maybe if we were able to sack or pressure Rivers, he might not have been so "cocky"

Our team had plenty of cocky punks last year and we didn't do diddly.

touche, but at least Rivers can back up the talk

And that's the real key. We gotta go out there and do it.

no, Ware is just soft. he's a great player but he has no mean streak.

How many times are we going to hear players say they know our plays and we are predictable? It's getting annoying.

It wasnt that the offense was doing great by any means...it's the timing at which the defense failed them.

The offense not getting into the endzone and missing FG's after the defense got the pick was huge.

But we start to get it clicking on offense late in the game, and the defense just kills all the momentum letting the Chargers drive.

difference is they all sucked. Our teams in the 90s where full of players with Rivers attitude, even our coach. Rivers ain't afraid to get in your face and piss you off cause in his mind he's going to beat you anyways.

Like I said it's not that the offense has been much better, but it's WHEN the defense falters.

In every game you noted, after a big offenseive play was made late in the game, the defense would fold like a lawn chair.

*Edit* And this is before we even get started on our lack of turnovers. I think we're bottom 3 of the entire league. That is the most disturbing.

sad but true. this team seems to do all talking during the week

.......and their LB said the same thing about MB3 and his lame attempts to get in the end zone. I guess we're plenty predictable on BOTH sides of the ball. The only thing the "3" should stand for in MB's name is third string: another dud of a performance by him today. To leave Choice rot on the sidelines like this is criminal....
