If Rivers knew what our defense was doing why didn't they score 40 pts? Our D wasn't horrible, certainly could have played better, but this isn't a big deal. That's why you study film. And the fact they were facing their old DC in SD that doesn't shock me or bother me either.
i think to an extent both teams knew what each other were doing today, that's why it was so close, too much familiarity

i thought both D's played fine

both O's weren't too consistant

right after we get screwed by the ref when one of your DBs runs over malcolm floyd, rivers pulls a brain fart and throws one right to newman, we luck out and you miss the fg, we luck out on the goal line stand and literally save a td by an inch or two it looked like , i mean the game could have gone either way

i think the worst thing i saw out of dallas was that final drive sd had that ate up like 8 minutes or whatever, you guys let us , a horrible running team, break a few runs and chew up the clock.

on the other side, the worst thing i saw out of sd was their god-awful run defense and rivers forcing a pass because something didn't work the previous play , he did the same thing at the end of the giants game, forcing passes because gates was dropping too many, we lucked out that game and kept holding ny to fgs.

dallas has a huge task now going to new orleans, i mean sd went downtown on your secondary all day, i can't imagine what brees is going to be trying.

i get flashbacks of the last time you guys played NO, and that was in dallas, and did not end pretty

but i hope you win, i don't want to see NO go unbeaten (brees in particular haha)

i'm really glad ware's ok too

Can't stand Rivers he's a hick from the sticks. Can't stand his southern accent and looks like he's 4 years old.

...What's wrong with someone with a southern accent?!?! I went to NC State football camp when Chuck was the HC there.. Phillip was still there. He's a player.

I think a little bit of pass rush would have helped out today. it seems that even when we brought 6, SD was able to pick it up.

I thought Jenkins and Ball probably had their best games today

Jenkins got beat a few times on some great plays by the QB/WR but at least he looks like he's in the ballgameand competing, which is something I cant say about our other DBs.

Ball looks like he's steadily improving.

Looks like DB once again should be high on our offseason wish list.

There's been little if any drop off from Hamlin to Ball, if i could ditch just 1 contract this upcoming season...

good observation about the ball looking like it weighs 20 pounds when he throws it...Eli looks the same way at times..
if you want to see ugly check out film on either Billy Kilmer or Bernie Kosar Capp back in the days.... there passes looked more like end over end punts as opposed to a pass

Bradie James needs to shut the hell up, because he flat-out sucks and can't cover worth crap. 20 points and this guy is talking crap, when he was getting smoked in coverage. The only reason Bradie James racked up sacks last year was because of Wade deploying the 4-6 packages...DUmp him as well, this defense won't lose a step...

Except when it matters.

They may have a nice stat line, but they absolutely folded when we needed them most.

It has become their routine and it is why there needs to be serious core changes on defense.

:hammer:

Almost every week when it matters at the end of the game the D can't get off the field. Look back at last weekend against the Giants. If we play a good team you can almost predict that they will score in the 4th quarter and eat up a good chunk of the clock.

Yep, I agree. Bradie is a really good guy and I think we all like him, but I'm afraid he's one of those "Good is the enemy of great" type players.

I hate to say it because we all love his heart and he's tough as nails, but I think you might need more speed inside to have a really top defense. We've done a great job of hiding his lack of speed unlike the last regime, but still, he just seems like a step slow a lot of times, and he obviously has had a lot of collisions at this point and isn't getting younger.

Whoever the new coach is will probably see this as well. Maybe he'd work well in a Belichick or Mangini scheme and you could get something in trade for him.

The guy is crying at the wrong time always.. If anyone was a beneficiary of Wade' it's him. He was getting exposed by Kitna in his last year with Parcells... I'm beginning to think the reason our safety play is one step too late is because they are too worried that Bradie James will get flat-out smoked....

Yep. He was nowhere to be found on the final drive when they ran it up the gut yet he blames the scheme. Make a play for once!

That guy has all the physical tools to be a great inside backer (4.4 speed, tremendous playmaking ability in college). Let's hope he can beat out Bradie James or Brooking. If he could turn out to be good, him, Spencer and Ware is a good start. Ratliff in front of him and possibly a DE who can play like Aaron Smith at Pittsburgh alongside Olshansky could be a promise of something better. Either that or we pray that Jerry Jones throws in the towel as GM.

Yes, I like Bradie personally but he probably needs to go.
He is just too slow.

Heh...that's funny...all those people who are insulting Rivers. So he's cocky. At least he can back it up unlike some other players we know. He's a better player than just about anyone on the Cowboys roster.

Bradie said that Rivers knew the Cowboys defense so well that he was calling out the Cowboys defenses and line stunts before the play.

Doesn't look like Wade changed much about his defense since leaving San Diego.

Pathetic. It still says a lot about our defense that they were able to play pretty well despite being figured out before we stepped on the field.
