I thought for sure he would be signed. Especially a team like the Giants.
That's because fans over exaggerate their players talent.

Remember Rico Gathers was a Hall of Famer who's talents were on the verge of bursting out of him

Not if you ask Jimmy Johnson, lol!
Curvin Richards...

For the youngsters that don't know the story.

Jimmy cut RB Curvin Richards for fumbling in the final games of the season which was a 'meaningless' game at that point.
- There was no benefit to cutting him at that point but Jimmy did it to make a statement.
- They didn't have a better option for backup RB.

Jimmy cut John Roper for falling asleep in a meeting.
- Again, there really wasn't really a benefit to cutting him.
- The players in line to replace his snaps were not really better.

Great story, but of course Jimmy was no fool. When he was asked about his rules at Miami and what he told RB Lawrence Phillips.:

"I can't be writing what the rules are because my rules vary from player to player. It's like I told Lawrence: In Dallas we had a linebacker named John Roper who got cut for falling asleep in a meeting. If Troy Aikman fell asleep in a meeting, I'd go over and whisper, `Wake up, Troy.' "

He treated players like Troy, Michael, Emmitt, Haley, differently than others like Roper or Curvin. They had earned extra leniency as opposed to those who did not perform well and pissed him off. Fair or not, every player on the team knew he was the Boss.
