It’s the dumb stuff they do.

Want to trade? Get Hopkins. If you want to spend the $$$ sign Jakobi Meyers and he cost you no draft picks.

But yeah, let us spend premium picks on Brandin Cooks and take on his massive salary.
Exactly.

My fear is, they will over pay draft capital. It is what they do.
Don't get enough in return for our players (Cooper) and give up too much for another teams player.
I don’t hate Cooks.

I hate that they will trade for Cooks and do nothing to upgrade anything else.

There is talk of WR names like Hopkins, Cooks, OBJ, etc. possibly being pursued by Dallas but with those names commanding $10M+ per season, do not be surprised if Dallas does what they seemingly always do lately and bring back a guy like TY Hilton for a cheaper contract ($5M range).

Just in time, it's being reported that the Texans are open to trading veteran receiver Brandin Cooks - and that meshes nicely with this fact: CowboysSI.com is told by a source that the Cowboys have the wideout on their "radar.''

Puff Puff Pass on trading for Cooks. If he’s cut agrees to a lesser salary then I’m in

I don't think they would have a problem giving OBJ or Hopkins $10M per season. IMO, the problem with OBJ could be how much G-money he wants and the same with Hopkins plus draft picks to the Cards.

My guess is a 2nd. Texans wanted a 1st at the deadline and Cowboys balked

Hopkins comes with a 2023 base salary of $19.45M and would require is probably a 2nd round draft pick to trade for him. In addition, he has had a multitude of injuries in the last few years (15 games missed the last 2 seasons between injuries and suspension) not to mention a 6-game suspension for PED use.

I get wanting the 'named' WR to help the offense but is Hopkins really what he once was?
Yes. The games he missed last year weren’t injury related. So don’t say that.

The Cowboys were serious about this idea at the trade deadline in October, with a second-round pick being a discussion item. Can it be done more affordably now for a Dallas team that has vowed to add "offensive play-maker juice''?
No way I've giving up a 2nd round pick and $26M for Cooks.
