Brandon Carr: Greg Hardy’s intensity at Cowboys practice is contagious

I don't disagree necessarily. Getting Gregory could change things I know. I think the Cowboys signed Hardy thinking long-term if it worked out this year. Gregory though might make them think they can get away cheap at a premium position for a few years, and that might make Stephen salivate enough on his ledger to change things.

Bottom line is though... if Dallas wants Hardy beyond this season... they can keep him. It will be up to the team.

What interests me is what Hardy's market is if he is forced to miss half the season or more. Between that and a lot of teams not having the infrastructure to help players like the Cowboys do, I wonder how a conservative league will view him.

With good technique comes effective attitude: hostile, agile, and mobile.

Lol- in order to make it to the NFL one has to have good technique in something. Good technique doesn't mean one will have an effective attitude, hostitility, etc...

I think we need both and that's what we've put together this year. We have our highly professional, student of the game, "high character" guys in Lee and now Byron Jones. High motor guys like Hitchens, Crawford, Mincey and Church. We have our fiery and frightening guys on the other end of the spectrum in RoMac and Hardy along with attitude in Scan and Wilcox. Guys like Lawrence, Carr, Gregory and TMcClain will feed on this.

It's a great blend of characters and personality types. I think we did a heck of a job rebuilding the defense this off season.

I think you mentioned the correct word for the situation, Blend. I too believe we have the correct blend of players to make something happen this year.

With this view, I'll just state that one doesn't see slow, cumbersome, and friendly stick around long in the NFL.

This is what I've been saying about his intensity and why he butted heads with Coleman. It is really good news for the team, IMO.

But ask Brandon Carr how the defensive end has looked in the early stages of the team’s offseason program and he can’t stop smiling.

“You need guys that come and bring that added fire and passion,” Carr said. “It’s always contagious. It really gets guys going out there.

“It’s something I hope we can use to our advantage this year.”

Ask Davon Coleman about how contagious it is.

The league has said that if he is involved in another incident, he may find himself banned from the NFL for life. No team is going to give him a lot of guaranteed cash / large signing bonus with that hanging over his head. He may just appreciate the Cowboys taking the chance on him and show a little loyalty. Especially knowing any monster contract is probably just a fantasy as this point.

I was listening to Philly Talk today...they think we're done because we lost DeMarco and Romo is 35. I love how all the experts are overlooking the impact our oline contributes to our success. Romo ain't gonna suddenly stop working.

Right. With Demarco gone were done. We've had Demarco for 4 years. Where did that get us ?

I agree that it is probably best for him to just stay off of twitter.

I still think this Country has gone completely off of the politically correct deep end. It is becoming absurd.

More like detrimental............

I bet you Coleman stops lolly gagging around and gives some effort. If not, he won't continue to be on this team and it won't make a **** what he thinks.

Well, I did not post that to indicate that I care. His intensity is going to impress like minds and probably not impress the lazy. I am perfectly fine with that. Witten has given him the stamp of approval, good enough for me.

I don't think it is likely really. Assuming Hardy minds his manners off the field and performs up to expectations off of it, I think Dallas will want to re-sign him at *roughly* market price. Dallas has never minded paying big for an edge rusher.

And, assuming that Dallas does indeed want to re-sign him, I really think Hardy will want to stay in Dallas (unless he just hates Tim McMahon so bad that he wants to relocate... which I see as 50/50).

I think a big part of why Dallas wanted to sign him was to let him clear the stink of DV off his record and then sign him long term.

Could go either way. They Cowboys don't need to pay either of those players for a while, so you can maybe afford to keep Hardy for 4 or 5 more years.

Very true... and the way I'd like for the team to go.

I've said from the beginning that if Hardy is playing like they expect him to and isn't getting into any more trouble... the team will keep him because they don't mind paying big for an edge rusher. And I still think that's what is going to happen.
