JimDandy;2612038 said:Who can blame him? He's a much better every down back than Barber. While Barber has talent, he aint worth the money JJ threw his way. Fact.
AbeBeta;2612234 said:He is worth the money.
He was hurt last year yet still gave us over 1300 total yards.
We have him 100% for those last 4 games and he is easily top 5 in the league in that category.

Barber's ridiculously overpaid, and Jacobs would be too if he got that much.
RB's are a dime a dozen. Look around the league. Many teams have 2 good ones, and some have 3. You can get a good one in every draft. A smart organization like the Giants will probably let Jacobs go into FA and see for himself that few teams not HQ'd in Dallas will pay that kind of $ to a RB.
JimDandy;2612335 said:Uh yeah, sure. LOL.
Don't get me wrong guy, Barber has heart, something woefully lacking with our team of prima donnas. However, he is not an every down back and hence, is not worth the money that the top every down backs make.
Besides, I'm not convinced that with Barber's size and running style, that he will be a long termer in this league.
It's a mute point anyway if we can't upgrade our crappy OL.
AbeBeta;2612418 said:Do you have any freaking idea what you are talking about?
Before being hurt Barber was averaging 103 yards per game (run + receiving). Projecting that over the last 4 games, if healthy, he'd have ended up around 1650 - the #5 total yard guy in the league was Steve Slanton with 1659 yards.
Can't you do a tiny bit of research before shooting off a post?

The fact Choice came in the last month of the season and had as much, if not more success than Barber did while also facing 4 of the league's best defenses doesnt make Barber look great either.
The OL deserves some blame too though, they had a number of games where they played like crap.
AbeBeta;2612428 said:Again, you can say he didn't have a great year -- but as I noted, those 12 healthy games produced what would have been a top 5 total yard performance over the 16 game season. His running #s suffered but he had by far his best receiving season and was very dangerous catching short passes.
Of course, as I noted last year, people shouldn't expect Barber to come in as a starter and perform at the same 4.8 YPC level that he did when he came in as the closer.
Those 12 games produced one of the worst YPC #s in the league. It shouldn't go unnoticed that Choice and Jones didn't have that problem.AbeBeta;2612428 said:Again, you can say he didn't have a great year -- but as I noted, those 12 healthy games produced what would have been a top 5 total yard performance over the 16 game season. From game 1, Barber wasn't the same guy he was last year.
3.7 ypc, while Jacobs was something like 5.0.
Yep. Barber excelled as a receiver, but was average as a lead runner.AbeBeta;2612486 said:Read my post - total yards. Much more to the game than just running.
