Brandon Moore would've been a back up

I knew this thread was coming when he changed his mind.

Operation WedontneedBrandonMooreanyway has begun.

For the record, I agree, this sort of justification is unnecessary. Moore was very likely a meaningful upgrade for our OL. He was especially an upgrade given the issues we've got with the three veteran OGs on the sidelines. There was a remote chance he did not end up starting (judging by how the compensation was structured), but we wouldn't have made the move at all if we didn't think he was a significant upgrade over what we've got. The fact that we made it after watching Bernadeau finally play is a fairly obvious reflection of what the team thought about Berny's ability to do the job.

Hard for Bernie to beat him out if he gets released. He (Moore) was all but a sure bet to be the starting RG.

He's not getting released. He restructured his contract so it's like a $4M cap hit to cut him.

I think its pretty clear Moore wasn't coming here to sit on the bench. We have plenty of guys on the OL who can handle that already. I can't believe this thread went 4 pages.

The fact that some of you believe this scares, amazes, and amuses me......HAHAHHAHAH..............Either some of y'all are 13 years old, or you realllllllllllllllllly don't know what the heck your talking about....

Don't even have to read the story or the thread to know that's just absolute garbage...

No way in hell he wouldn't have started...

NO WAY...

Arkin by all accounts has improved, but he has not improved enough to start in my humble opinion. Bernardeau seems to be injured a lot, which could mean Arkin has to start at some point, which at this point would be a bad thing. I think the boys are doing what the should be doing, due diligence to see if Waters can be had at a price that does not prevent them from getting deals done with Lee, Dez & Carter in the future.

Cap is tight, but it sure would nice to have a upgrade for the right price.

That's the reason he was going to be signed; Jerry said as much.

"Doing some things on the offensive line that I think will help our depth"

Enough crying about a backup lineman. He was gonna be brought in here because we can't fully trust Bernadeau to stay healthy and the team needs an established backup interior lineman (apparently not Arkin or Cook). And Livings with his knee issues is ostensibly out of the equation.

People get on Mckenzy for the bad plays he had at the start of the year but over the last 8 games of the season he was a better player than Moore. Moore was not gonna come in and beat him out if healthy.

Like someone already said you don't give a guy 2 million to be the back up.... Berny is a pretty good back up, but a way below average starter

No, Bernadeau was not better than Moore at any point last season.

I have reviewed both on the Coaches Film. Bernadeau had a few decent games and was better than many fans believe; however, he was not better than Brandon Moore.

Bernadeau's best games were in the middle of the season. His play really declined after the shoulder injury.

The stated goal of the Cowboys is to start their best five. If Moore didn't turn out to be one of their best five, then he wouldn't start.

The chances of that happening are about as good as a third-string QB making the roster this year.

I completely agree! I watched the coaches film on all of Mackenzy Bernardeau's games. The misconception that he was a good player at the end of the season is completely false. If he was better, it was marginally. He was still below average to awful.

I challenge anyone to closely watch him in both Commanders games and the Saints games at the end of the season and possibly tell me he is a good football player. Guys he was flat out awful!

He was decent in the mid-season games before the shoulder injury.
