I really don't understand with the renewed emphasis on contact why they let Arizona get away with mugging our receivers. I don't care who the QB is, if the contact is after 5 yards, either decide as a league to call it or not call it.

There is holding on every single play. But yes, I do think the refs take everything into account. If a guy is getting mugged but the ball sails over his head, the ref might be less inclined to throw a flag vs. a catchable ball. Under the strict definition of the rule, it shouldn't matter. But it does. And frankly, I don't have a problem with it, not everything is black and white. A lot of gray.

Eh, Weeden's 5-16 career record in the NFL says otherwise. Face it, the guy has a history of failing and really should not be an NFL QB.

I'm not going to put the ineptitude of the Browns front office on Weeden. That same year they WASTED a 3rd overall pick on Trent Richardson.

I don't think it was anymore contact than we gave their receivers. They played aggressive. I didn't see anything that warranted a flag.

Well, they did manage to rob the Colts afterwards, so they're not completely messed up. Of course, they did draft Manziel and threw away all their good fortune, but hey.

What I can't understand is why in the hell did the Cowboys sign an x-baseball player, again! lol

I thought they were over that experiment?

I have no problem with his issues getting Dez the ball because Dez was seldom open and dropped a couple.

My issue is how often he missed guys like Cole Beasley while trying to force feed Dez who wasn't even looking for the ball most of the day as he was handfighting with 21.

Yeah I refuse to believe Weeden is THAT bad. He just picked hte worst time to have a terrible performance. It would've been in his best interests if Romo would've played lol.

Did you see him play in Cleveland? He had worse games.

Different situation. Henson and Hutchinson left football went to Baseball then entered the NFL. Weeden played baseball but spent 3 years at OSU 2 as a starter and put up big numbers.

Brandon Weeden on struggles vs. Arizona: "A couple of timing issues. A couple of not very good throws... Just never really got in a rhythm
Weeden: The first throw I missed Dez on the sideline. That was on me. We never really got into a rhythm until late, and it was too late.."
Weeden: Peterson is probably NFL's best CB. Cromartie is a good player. But when you have 88, you gotta get him the ball as much as possible

No Weeden, while the accuracy was a problem, the real problem is your lack of ability to go through your progressions. You do realize that you look at all of your receivers and see which one is open? Please tell me that you understand that you just don't gun the ball to the first read on every freaking pass, you do understand this, right?

Also, has anybody ever explained to you how to "look off" the WR you are throwing to? You don't just break the huddle staring at the guy you plan on throwing to, snap the ball while starting at the same WR, drop back in the pocket starting at the same WR, and then gunning the ball 100 mph to the same WR you have been staring at for the last 3 mins, you do realize that somebody on the defensive side of the ball might accidentally notice this, you do understand this right?

 One of the funniest post I've seen in while, I'm still laughing.

I don't agree. That adds too much room for interpretation to the rule. Either the player made illegal contact, which could have affected the receiver's ability to get open, thrown off the route, etc., or he didn't.

I'm OK with it not being called, but let's level it and just let the defenders and receivers fight it out from week to week so players can know exactly what they are facing.

I was willing to give Weeden a built in excuse by saying that he's nervous. But you can't be nervous your entire NFL career. I wonder if his passes are that way in practice, and if they are, why is he still on the team? Other people were open too, but there's little evidence to suggest that you could actually accurately hit those targets. And if for goodness sake, have some touch. You wouldn't chase down a ground ball in baseball 3 feet from the first baseman and gun it to him. The only thing he has going for him is his strong arm.

Was about to say the very same thing. Screw driving the ball to 88 all day, you missed a wide open Beas and Witt several times!

Again Weeden was bad.

But a certain amount of blame has to be cast to Jerry & Co.

Kitna 141 NFL starts
Orton 74 NFL starts
Weeden 21 NFL starts

Weeden doesn't have a lot of experience.

Could the team have done better when it came to a back up?
