Yeah that so called correlation does not work with Tony Romo. So it really is seriously flawed.

My problem with the rating formula is that it rewards dink and dunk passers instead of penalizing them.

The winner of the passer rating battle in games Tony Romo has thrown a pass in is 105-28, which is 79 percent. It absolutely works with Romo.

My point was to show how QB rating can be very misleading and in Weeden's case, it is. He dinked and dunked his way to his QB rating. I don't even know if a receiver caught a ball against Atlanta (maybe Beasley) but I'm too lazy to look it up. I know what I saw.

What's the correlation? Please post it.

I've posted plenty of examples of playoff and SBs where the QB that had the better TD to turnover ratio has won most of those games. Feel free to research it yourself. There's exceptions to every rule and not all QBs that have higher passer ratings than the opposing QB are always going to win the games and the same for a QBs TD to turnover ratio but it's the least flawed stat of the two. Go back to the playoff game with the Packers last season Romo had a 143.6 passer rating compared to a 125.4 passer rating for Aaron Rodgers but Rodgers 3 to 0 TD to turnover ratio was slightly better than Romo's 2 to 0 TD to turnover ratio. That extra TD by Rodgers was the difference in the game. Common sense will tell you that the QB who has more TDs and fewer turnovers than the opposing QB their team has the best chance to win the game. Wins and losses aren't entirely based on how a QB plays there's a lot of other factors you have to look at.

So you don't have an actual correlation? Gotcha

Once again, that's not how this works. The opponent QB had a higher rating than Weeden in both outings.

The elephant in the room. If you throw out TOs then the team that has the better pass/pass defence diff will generally do very well. More to it than that but that's a biggie.

If you can't figure out the correlation between a QBs TD to turnover ratio and winning then talking football with you is a waste of time.

YOU brought it up. It's on you to show what the correlation is. You said there was a higher correlation on Td to turnover ratio than passer rating. Well, what is it?

He may dink and dunk but his 9.3 avg per pass is 3rd highest in the NFL right now.

Sure, when your RB's are your leading receivers. But that only lasted for so long. You're not going to win in this league dumping off passes to RB's. Oh, you may have the franchise record for consecutive completed passes, but you'll still lose.

Which is why this past game he did take it down field and mid range passes. Weeden is catching hell yet it is the defense who has failed us. Don't get me wrong we need to do better on 3rd down conversions but all in all defense has killed us.

This is the state's evidence No. 1 that statistics are often entirely meaningless.

Would not say they are meaningless. There are some other stats on offense that Dallas needs to improve on. Dallas is at 34% on converting 3rd downs meantime NE is leading the NFL hitting 3rd downs at 60%. I have said many times, Weeden is putting us in position to win, he is not carrying the team but not hurting them. We have put up points, believe it or not we are 4th in the NFL in TOP. Defense right now, we are not getting sacks, we are not getting turnovers and our 3rd down defense has been horrific. When playing backup QB teams rely a lot on other parts of the team to step up namely defense thus far ours has not. Like most other I am counting on getting key players back on defense so that they can pick up their end of the deal.

Don't waste your breath, you have to just laugh sometimes... you have to remember that most people on this board are phony Cowboys fans who don't even watch the games. "Weeden dumped to the backs all game". He threw ONE pass to Clutts and that was it. "The defense was gassed because of the offense kept them on the field." The time of possession was 29:20 to 30:53. It's a chore even pretending to talk football with dimwits like this, they're an embarrassment to this board.

Personally I think Weedon has done all he can. What you and too many others refuse to see is that we need more from him and there is none. You can whine and cry about the D as much as you want but it does not matter.

The passing game under Weeden has really been assisted by post catch receiving yards. While he ranks 3rd in yards per attempt, he ranks 31st in Yards in the Air as a % of total passing yards. Brandon is really going to miss Dunbar's YAC, arguably our offensive MVP up till now.

Don't disagree but Weeden is not a rookie. Either the staff had him play conservative or that's just his game. Either way it doesn't bode well. Weeden is catching hell because the way he plays makes our offense too easy to defend.
