I was in a few small earthquakes when I lived in LA. It's definitely a "what the hell is that?" moment the first time you feel one. Hope everyone is ok, and no major damage was done.

Yeah, waiting on news on injuries and what not before I start cracking jokes about it. Hope everyone is alright.

And it might not be over:

“What the concern is, of course, is that this is a foreshock. If it’s a foreshock, then the worse is yet to come.”

She said the energy from earthquakes on the East Coast does not attenuate as quickly as it does on the West Coast, and thus even a relatively modest tremor can shake a very broad [area].

“When something like this happen, everyone has to remember, more than half of the states in the U.S. are considered earthquake country. When something like this happens, remember what to do in the case of a seismic event. Duck, get under something sturdy like a desk or a doorway, get away from falling glass. Make sure that you are not in the way of falling objects like pictures, bookshelves, books, anything that’s not firmly connected the wall.”

Oh boy did I feel it. The whole house shook for like 15 seconds, and the neighbors in the house next door fled to the backyard until it was over. Felt like an LA resident for a minute there.

Didn't feel a thing in Texas. This could be interesting what with Irene and all. Y'all stay safe. (But if anything happens have you bequeathed your Cowboys memorabilia yet?)

Glad everyone is ok. I've got friends in Philly and she just reported on FB that everyone was ok.

Haven't heard from my friend's brother who also lives in Philly, yet.

We felt it here in Baltimore. Luckily, no damage. Our whole building shook. It was as bad as any of the earthquakes I have experienced in Japan.

Can't make a phone call here but the internet is working.

FNC: "Concern over subways." I'd avoid them for a few days myself.

We felt our house tremble. Was not bad. Just a what is going on moment.

Told the wife it must have been an earthquake somewhere or a big explosion.

You've likely used this line before to cover up a large fart.

A 5.8 earthquake hits the East Coast & it's national news? Being from California, the vibrate on my cell phone is stronger than 5.8. Man up!

I wouldn't worry to much. A 5.8 earthquake is relatively mild. Even the epicenter would only experience light damage. (well, unless were talking about extremely poorly crafted buildings)

heh, The second I leave work, I'm in a subway. Unless something massive hits between now and then, I will be in that subway!

Besides, the epicenter is a long way from NYC. It would have to be SUPER HUGE to erupt there again and have enough power to cause real damage here in NYC.

Yeah, I'm not too worried, but it never hurts to get a shoutout from folks. "Hey, I felt it, but the fam is good."

Kinda like y'all did on here. ;)
