Oh, but he is.Because he's not chop liver
For sure is I don't know what he saw last year. He's literally gonna be chopped live if he keeps ending up in that tent.Oh, but he is.
In other words, they were smart enough to limit their mistakes and use the talent around them. NO QB can survive the postseason w/o strong coaching and/or a strong team, regardless of what Dak critics say. Does that mean he's been perfect? Hell no, but blaming him for NOT winning a Super Bowl so far is silly. They do and to me they weren't carried to those rings. You can argue they got carried to the playoffs but on the way to the SB those guys put in work and made some key throws.
Per Albert Breer: This year, I sent out nearly 200 requests for votes, knowing that cut-down week is a busy one, and some people won’t get back to me. This year, we received 104 ballots. All 32 teams had voters in this poll, and 30 of the 32 had multiple voters, so we have a diverse cross-section of the league. Among the voters—GMs, personnel executives, head coaches, offensive and pass-game coordinators and quarterbacks coaches—we received ballots from 20 head coaches and 21 general managers. The methodology here seems strange.
Of the 104 ballots, the top four received votes on 101, 92, 86, and 80 ballets.
From there it falls dramatically. 47, 24, 26, 22, 14, 7 and down.
The top 4 seems like at least a bit of a consensus. The rest is a crap shoot and no real consensus from the "experts".
If only 25% or less of the responders mentioned a QB on their ballot what is the basis for accurately ranking where the majority of the "experts" would rank him?
Also strange that 3 experts didn't include Allen in their top 5. 12 didn't include Stafford. 18 didn't include Mahomes and 24 didn't include Burrow.
The fifth ranked, Jackson, was left out of the top five by 57 experts.
What am I missing here?
Agreed. In other words, they were smart enough to limit their mistakes and use the talent around them. I'm sure that guy who voted was circumcising mosquitosDak got a first-place vote. Did they poll his brother?
A lot of rushing yards ill always help a QB. Any QB. The Eagles rushed for like 2500 yards in 2022, and over 3000 yards in 2024. That's nuts. That's mainly due to the dual threat. Lamar Jackson's best year remains 2019 due to team rushing at just shy of 3300 yards. That's not coincidence. I think Romo's best year was 2014.I understand that but why do we pick and chose when to knock a guy for that? No one would ever knock Aikman for that(rightfully so). And I know why. Hurts has the history of being replaced by Tua, being a 2nd round pick, known as a runner not a thrower....People arrogant in their own takes don't want to accept or change that yes guys like Darnold and Hurts are better players than they thought.
I think ultimately most good QB's in this league play with talent. We can argue how good it may be but everyone has talent.
He didn't have that run game last year--Barkley broke 1,000 yards but the run game was not there. He was stuck with a garbage OC, a coach that according to CZ stinks to high heaven, a #1 WR that quit halfway through the season, an O-line that had every player but one injured at one time or another and still threw for 3200+ yards with 25 TD's and only 6 Int's while adding 8 rush TD's in 16 games. The hate for Hurts is ridiculous. You'd think he was barely better than Dilfer reading some of the comments about him.Yeah, when you have an almost unstoppable run game, it opens up more opportunities for the WRs.
You don’t think strength of schedule is a real thing??I file these polls in the same spot I filed the strength of schedule thing yesterday.
YEah trust me if i'm picking a QB i'm probably picking 10-15 guys over Hurts but he's still accomplished a lot and if this is strictly about how good QB's are he should be a consensus top 10 guy. Even Darnold.....once again not the first guy I choose but he took two different teams to the playoffs in consecutive years including a SB run. But we will frown on those accomplishments for guys who haven't sniffed that.He didn't have that run game last year--Barkley broke 1,000 yards but the run game was not there. He was stuck with a garbage OC, a coach that according to CZ stinks to high heaven, a #1 WR that quit halfway through the season, an O-line that had every player but one injured at one time or another, and still threw for 3200+ yards with 25 TD's and only 6 Int's while adding 8 rush TD's in 16 games.
People still don't want to give Darnold credit either, you are correct.I understand that but why do we pick and chose when to knock a guy for that? No one would ever knock Aikman for that(rightfully so). And I know why. Hurts has the history of being replaced by Tua, being a 2nd round pick, known as a runner not a thrower....People arrogant in their own takes don't want to accept or change that yes guys like Darnold and Hurts are better players than they thought.

At all. Two different teams to the playoffs in consecutive years and one Super Bowl run.People still don't want to give Darnold credit either, you are correct.
To add to this...how many times do people call Dak a regular season merchant? Allen, Herbert, Lamar, Burrow...only Burrow made it to the SB once and hasn't sniffed it since. They have a few more playoff wins together as a group, nothing more.At all. Two different teams to the playoffs in consecutive years and one Super Bowl run.
Meanwhile, Burrow, Lamar and Josh get credit for what exactly? Lamar's is MVP's....which hey 2 time MVP I get it. Him and Josh are basically get more credit for their regular season success than Hurts and Darnold get for their SB runs lol. Its nuts.
And Burrow....I get torn between him actually being underrated or fairly rated...but he's been holding on to his reputation since a SB run he had YEARS ago....which has resulted injuries and missing out on the playoffs. How long does that hold up?
Man…I’ve questioned the same thing. Especially on Herbert. The whole debate is just ridiculous. People just need they have a bias on guys because how it looks. Hurts and Darnold aren’t pretty but productive. To add to this...how many times do people call Dak a regular season merchant? Allen, Herbert, Lamar, Burrow...only Burrow made it to the SB once and hasn't sniffed it since. They have a few more playoff wins together as a group, nothing more.
This is a small sample because there aren't a gazillion head coaches and GMS -- there are what, 64 HCs and GMs in their roles. They got like 49 to answer.I'm not making this argument because Herbert is ranked ahead of Dak. I'm trying to understand the criteria being used to rank him so highly.
Herbert has now been in the NFL for six seasons and has made three playoff starts. His postseason record is 0-3, and across those three games he has completed 58 of 106 passes (just 54.7%) for 674 yards, 2 TDs and 4 INTs.
That's a pretty small sample, so I'm not suggesting three games define his career. Look, Herbert clearly has talent, and I'm not arguing otherwise. His regular-season production is impressive. But there's a difference between projecting what a quarterback will accomplish and ranking him based on what he has actually accomplished.
I hear the same argument every year about Herbert being an elite/top-tier QB, and I'm genuinely curious what I'm missing. Six years into his career, he still hasn't won a playoff game.
If we're ranking quarterbacks based on talent and potential, that's one conversation. If we're ranking them based on actual performance and accomplishments, I don't understand how Herbert consistently gets ranked as highly as he does.
He performs at a high level. Accomplishments are a team accolade.I'm not making this argument because Herbert is ranked ahead of Dak. I'm trying to understand the criteria being used to rank him so highly.

No elite skill players, an offensive line that was in shambles, and he got them to the playoffs. Not many QBs are getting that team to the post-season.I'm not making this argument because Herbert is ranked ahead of Dak. I'm trying to understand the criteria being used to rank him so highly.

He’s going to be if he doesn’t start avoiding the hits.Because he's not chop liver
Herbert has never had anywhere close to the talent on offense that Dak has enjoyed pretty much his entire career.I'm not making this argument because Herbert is ranked ahead of Dak. I'm trying to understand the criteria being used to rank him so highly.
