As far as I know Boldin is still a member of the Cards so I don't know what they will get. As for RW he will get this off season work with Romo and with Garrett and we will see how it all plays out. If he fails then that is on him but I do believe in the importance of chemistry and timing between a WR and QB which is something RW and Romo were not able to do during the short time they were together.

People on this board underestimate the role heart/big game plays with a player. Either you have it or you dont. When the Lions were 6-2 two years ago i saw a guy who ran his mouth and folded when teams actually started to punch them in the mouth. The slugfests we have had with the Giants, Skins and Eagles. Man i am terrified at how our offense will perform in those games. I already know they are going to load up the box and make the recievers beat us. All three of those teams. And dont think Witten wont have a double team on him. Austin and Roy vs Hobbs/Brown and Samuel?:bang2: Asante is going to embarass Roy. But since everybody thinks im just a Roy hater for no reason I wont say another word about that clown until the season starts. I hope he plays with heart/determination but that train has left more than likely.

Challenge you? I challenge you to say something intelligent for a change.

Aikman is behing Owens? Could have fooled me.

Irvin just said that team chemistry was suffering and he understood.

Emmitt merely surmised that it may have been a risky move. Hell we've all known that.

Did you by any chance see the thread with the poll of former cowboys players who were asked if it was a wise move to release him? Prepare yourself, it might make you tear up a little.

Lol, you are a true fan indeed, i applaud that. Just dont say i did not tell you how the Cowboys season will go. Just keep the ball out of Romos hands when the game is on the line as much as possible and pray the defense FINALLY breaks out and becomes dominant.

We do have some really good DBs in our division, but I'm going to give Roy the benefit of the doubt. If a certain player, your favorite in fact, would've performed like Roy did last year under those circumstances - he would've been crucified.

I just really hope that Roy understands the pressure that is on his shoulders next year. Because I don't trust Austin, Crayton, Hurd, and Stanback to pick up the slack.

And you better believe Deanglo Hall who may have got toasted by Owens is going to be all up in Roys grill. Will Roy back down? Who the hell knows. Thats my problem with the guy. I know for damn sure Boldin would'nt back down from that joke of a cb. Cory Webster is a damn good cb now for some reason. Dude has guarded TO and all recievers the Giants have faced very good. For some reason people think Ross is better but anyway hes another physical corner who is going to get up in Roys grill. We will see what Roy is made of thats for sure. I just see alot of Pau Gasol in that guy.

And I think you don't have a clue at all the work it takes between a WR and the QB and the trust they develop that takes time and is why teams go through the OTA not to mention the work the QB and WR do on their own. I don't know what the end result will be but I do know RW has the talent and will get the oppertunity to get the needed work with Romo.

As far as the Lions that entire team folded it is not 1 person but you don't get that evidently you are one of these fantasy football fans who really does not have a clue as to what about the acutal game of football. Heart what do you know about heart and what it takes go back to the madden video game that seems to be more up your ally.

I have two friends, one a huge Longhorns fan - and the other was born in Detroit. Every game, I get a text - 'I told you so.' I really think our scouting department dropped the ball on the Roy trade. I'd rather have 3 extra bodies in camp - a 1st, 3rd, and 6th. And all that cap space - 5 years 45 million. Wouldn't necessarily mean we'd have to had kept Owens, just not given up an arm and a leg for an inconsistent WR.

If I were you, I'd do a user name/avatar change. You don't want everything you post to be about one player that is no longer on our team. I liked Owens a lot but I'm still a Cowboys fan. Just a thought.

I wish I could remember who posted Roy Williams stats showing games played to date and compared it to Owens for the same number of games.

Totally trumps the nonsense above.

Not sure if this is the post you were talking about, but...

TO after first 5 years in the league:

Games 76
Rec 319
Yards 4748
TD 43

Career average after 5 years
Rec per game 4.19
Yards per game 62.47
TD per game .56
Yards per catch 14.88

RW after first 5 years in the leauge:

Games 70
Rec 281
Yards 4082
TD 30

Career average after 5 years
Rec per game 4.1
Yards per game 58.31
TD per game .42
Yards per catch 14.52

I wan't impressed with what I saw last year, but after looking at his stats I have no choice but to give the guy the benefit of the doubt for the time being.

I mean you don't put up those kind of numbers (very comparable to TOs first five years) and then look like what he did last year in Dallas.

He also put up thos numbers with mostly Harrington at QB (3 years) and Kitna for (2 years). I am in no way willing to write him off at this point.

This is a subject better discussed after the 2009 season.

Now about Romo. I do believe there are some folks on this board and not on this board who have legitimate gripes about Romo. However, I do see that those who dislike Romo the most happen to have been really big TO fans. Like it or not that is the way it is.

The December Romo Blame Game is perfect example of selective blame game playing. If Crayton makes a catch that he should have, Cowboys beat the eventual Super Bowl champs in a playoff game and Romo is all of a sudden "clutch" I guess.

Romo did not play great in the Baltimore more game, but when it mattered most he stepped up and did enough to win only to be let down by two ridiculous unforgiveable runs by the defense. Yet Romo is to blame because had he played well enough the first 3 quarters the defense would have never been in that position or so the theory goes.

I wonder if that same theory would apply in this scenario: Romo is playing lights out but the defense is less than stellar. All of a sudden in the fourth quarter the defense tightens up and Romo puts up even more points and Dallas now has a 13 point lead. However, with say 8 minutes to go or less Romo throws back to back INTs for TDs and Dallas loses the game. I am assuming that loss will still be on the defense? Right?

So really the Romo hates comes down to three games. The Seattle playoff game, last seasons Pittsburgh game and last seasons Philly game.

If you want to blame Romo the holder then be my guest. He was fired from that job.

If you want to blame Romo for the Pittsburgh game you have a legitimate complaint. However, Romo will not be the last QB to go into the eventual Super Bowl champs back yard in terrible weather playing the #1 defense in the NFL and come out not looking so good. Not making an excuse just he is not the first and won't be the last. He should have played a better game. I have no issues with putting that game on Romo.

Ahh...the Philly game. I don't know what to say. I am not sure Rowdy even showed up for that game. I have no problem with someone calling out Romo for not showing up, but are we calling out the leadership of Demarcus Ware for that game? No, because it is does not fit into the December Blame Romo Game. Am I suggesting Ware should be called out no, like I said you get handed a 44-6 whipping, you will be hard pressed to single out a person or two for a game like that. That smacks of haterade and not looking at things objectively at all.

Keep the insults coming. I wont ask "why are people picking on me" like #11. I can take it all.

And Apollo everything I post isn't about TO its just the only topic i get noticed for because its an explosive topic and i usually have negative things to say about the god Tony Romo. I love alot of players on the team tho and i love the team. I just dont like what Romo and Roy Williams represent. Just my opinion.

I love what Romo represents. Hard worker, UDFA, other coaches respect him, and he ignited our team and brought us from the dog house.

Roy on the other hand, seems like an overrated and overhyped WR that has inflated stats from playing on a garbage team, with a wide-open offense, that was always playing from behind. Aikman thinks he is the worst route runner we have ever seen, and I totally agree.

He is an upgrade over Owens from a 'chemistry' perspective, but I would rather have the 35 year old from a talent and production standpoint.

I would add the Giant playoff game too. I dont care how many people bring up Craytons "give up play" even when god Tony said it was a miscommunication. If you are going to praise the qb for wins then blame him for the losses too. No more excuses in 09.

And i dont like what Tony represents. He is a guy who went from an unknown to now being Hollywood. He wants to enjoy all the perks that go with the job but when the scrutiny comes he acts like a little girl. Like not talking to Marshall Faulk because he spoke the truth about him. smh. I dont like what he represent from the standpoint of........

When we have a bad quarter or he makes a bad play he comes to the bench acting like his dog just died. What big time championship qb has EVER done that? I dont want to hear about how hes learning or any of that bs. Even as rookies, championship qbs dont go back to the bench with their heads down acting like they are crying in the middle of a damn game. The team looks at him as the leader. If the leader is all shook up what the hell are the other players supposed to do? Follow the "leader", what a wierd concept. So dont wonder why we always find ways to choke/lose games. Its because of that fraud behind center

Never said that. Thanks for putting words into my mouth. I just said he will get doubled like he did against the Giants in the playoff game where he was pretty much a non factor the whole game. Getting double teams more frequent means his numbers will go down. Thats common sense imo. And Witten is one of my favorite players so dont even try that garbage.

Interesting. I have been ranting about my 1991 perception comparison of aikman in todays media environment lately....

and just for a few pics to prove again to myself and maybe others, your quote is perfect.

Here is the cowboys offense after getting manhandled by the eagles 24-0 at home in 1991.

The offensive bench.
http://img17.*************/img17/5022/offensivebenchweb.jpg

Emmit...How inspiring does he look?
http://img17.*************/img17/3836/emmittweb.jpg

and finally the hall of famer himself Mr. Aikman.
http://img17.*************/img17/5987/aikmanweb.jpg
http://img17.*************/img17/3836/emmittweb.jpg

so, maybe people should just stop reading into every little thing. Because the greats in this league all have sat on the sideline in disgust and have all had bad days where they just sat there on the sideline in la la land. Especially qb's who usually have been beaten up in these types of games.

Look the expressions are nearly identical for petes sake.

http://img17.*************/img17/6738/aikman3.jpg

this expression from newman isnt much different than emmitt's.
http://img17.*************/img17/2337/newman08eagles.jpg

It cant always be rosy, and these falsehoods that championship players never get down or never sulk is pure bogus. Its the 24/7 media that has changed and the way they attack individuals.

I guess Troy and other cowboy players were no different when it came to the sting of losing a game as it does for Romo and others who are competitive. Amazing

When I said he needed to become more of a leader months ago I was lambasted by the protection brigade... Only time will tell. There can be no more sharp December declines. Period.

I can relate. As it turns out, leadership was and still is the overriding factor in the teams decline.

I thought having TO as one of your team leaders was troublesome and the fact that Romo wasn't as "even-keeled" as was needed really hurt the team. I think that TO contributed to Romo not being able to assert himself as a true leader b/c TO can't be corrected in front of others.

Now that he's gone there should only be 'one voice in the huddle' and Romo will prove the be the man for the job.

IMHO, of course...

See you can't even make a point without going all hyperbole ("god Tony"). See that is the problem, no one said he is the best ever, just he is pretty darn good and he is the QB that gives Dallas their best chance to win now and for the forseeable future. How about we use common sense and praise him for the games he played well and critique him for the games he did not. Hold him accountable for the things he should be held accountable for.

That is just a personal feeling you have about Romo. You don't like him...great. But you do like a certain WR who has a much worse reputation than Romo ever dreamed of. You are talking about personal preferences. That is fine, but meaningless.

You are obviously operating off of selective memory. Their have been plenty of times Romo has come off the field and encouraging the troops. I don't have the time nor the inclination to show you this. I have also seen him come off the field POed as you suggest. Same as any other player and QB.

I think that's your problem. You're just a draft snob who can't abide the thought that somebody you thought was dirt because he was not a high draft pick, and who you campaigned to get rid of before he was elevated, can actually be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and one of the best the Cowboys ever had - which he is.

I think it must be especially galling to you that Romo's quiet, good-guy persona grata has outlasted the antics of your loudmouth namesake.

I'm not a fan yet of Roy Williams. I think the trade was a mistake, but I'm willing to be convinced by performance.

I am a fan of Tony Romo because he has already performed exceptionally well for my team, the Cowboys. I rather doubt it for your team.

Sit ups in the drive way, cyclist gear on the sidelines, VH1 Terrell Owens reality show, TO doing the local news affililiate sports cast in Buffalo, TO's "Thats my Quarterback", Desperate Housewives skit, I love me some Me..., rap song "I'm back", and appeared in the movie Any Given Sunday.

Why would you think TO has gone Hollywood???
