He's only in his 2nd year, and he already has that record. How many will he make overall after he's done? 8? 9?

What gives with this guy? He's some strange player. Most Cowboys fans don't even want him, and he does crazy great things like this along with some high inconsistencies and bad misses from far closer range. His overall field goal percentage has to be among one of the lower percentages in the NFL, but if he can make kicks like this, he can be reliable with the game on the line. Like if we need a last second kick to end the half, or the game. I know today was a blowout, but next time he could be more useful.

We'd be at least 5-2 if he made the kicks he's supposed to, possibly 6-1 but I can't possibly overlook this aspect of his play.

He's definitely got his strong points. Man. Three 60 yarders. He could break the record. I think the record is 64 yards, right? Someone broke Tom Dempsy's old 63-yard record a few years back.

Yet he missed a 40 yard chip shot vs the Jets last week that would have given us the win. Sorry for the rant, but Maher needs to be more consistent, especially when the game is on the line.

The entire team needs to be more consistent. The jets game never should have come down to a fg.

He also put up most of our points in that game. Relax with the Maher hate.

I still would love to have kept Redfern as a short-range kicker/punter and Maher for kickoffs/long-range FGs. There is value in having a guy who can knock down 60-yarders, but it's still more important to have a guy who can make almost all of his kicks (90 percent or better) from the 40 in.

I'm also an advocate for having a kicking coach for younger players like him. His misses are clearly a mechanical thing, so having someone keeping him on point with mechanics would be a good thing.

He's a weird weapon. My buddy suggested last night they keep another kicker on the roster to kick anything less than 40 yards. I laughed at the idea, but we did have David Buehler as our kick off specialist a few years back.

Garrett really should have sent Maher out there for the 70 yard attempt at the end of the Saints game rather than try the Hail Mary. He might have made it.

If he is genuinely this good from deep range, he can change an offense's entire strategy. No longer does an OC have to think, "Get within the opponents' 35 to get within field goal range." The coordinator now only needs to concentrate on getting the ball within the opposing team's 45 instead.

Hope the team does more towards commemorating the league's 100th season than just having the most prolific 60-plus yards kicker in NFL history.

He just guaranteed that he will be locked up long-term and will retire a Cowboy. Jerry might make him the highest paid kicker in the league now

can we bypass taking the 20 yarders until we have three of them & then try a 60? Make it worth 9 points & call it all square. Just saying I have no faith in what should be gimme's.

He could easily break the record, considering he's hit a 63 and a 62 and neither was in Mile High (where the 64 and many of the other 60+ kicks were made).

Alas........Cowboys aren't scheduled to play another game in Denver until 2025....*sigh*

He isn't the worst kicker in the league by a long shot, just after years of Bailey being the NFL record holder in terms of accuracy (I doubt that is still true after these past two years) we demand a lot from our kickers

I told that bum Tom "The Clown" Downey that they shouldn't cut Maher! Yes the guy has Tourettes inside 40 yards but he's money from 60+!
