Brett Maher over Dan Bailey?

I know there are some differences in CFL rules, but this guy wasn't good in Canada. Mid 70s pct. Why do we expect him to become a good NFL kicker? At least he has a big leg so Red can try the long FGs.

And 84% is exactly average in today's NFL. 9 teams were over 90 last year.

My theory is if the uprights are narrower in the CFL (again I asked that because I wasn't sure), it should be easier for Maher to get it between the uprights in the NFL...

CFL goal posts are the same width as the NFL, although the hashmarks are wider.

There is another difference, however. Only one CFL team plays in a dome. The other 8 play outdoors in Canadian weather. Last year's Grey Cup was played in a snowstorm.

With all the Dak and Garrett Bashing I don't want this clown to get a pass. First pressure kick as a Cowboy. He hit the upright flags, wide right. Whoever came up with the idea to cut Bailey needs to punched in the face.

Ummm which Bailey are you exactly referring to? Bailey has been regressing over the last 3 seasons. And especially since the injury. How many FGs has he missed of late? A ton. The Jets didn't even want Bailey. He is not the Bailey of old. Which is why he has not been picked up yet.

I have noticed the quality of NFL kicking is going downhill. They used to be automatic. Now they are an adventure.

I was way more upset about the clap then the actual miss.

Fans need to get over the clapping. It's a mannerism. It's not significant, and it wasn't an expression of approval of a missed kick. JG isn't a good coach, but the idea that he is perfectly happy with failure is nonsense.

I mentioned earlier, Bailey had missed 5 (you heard that right, 5) FGs in his last 4 games...and his most recent attempt was a miss from 23 yards.
Bailey had a great run, but something was off.
He also tried out for the Jets recently but didn't get an offer.

Btw, that was no chip shot...but a very tough FG attempt. The stroke looked good...just missed by inches from 47 in bad weather, and had enough leg for another 10 yards easily.

Yeah, far as I can tell Bailey still hasn't signed with anyone. He's not the same guy. Front office really can't win -- if they cut a guy because he is on the decline or is a problem like the Patriots would they get killed for it and if they hold on to some one they get killed for overpaying aging vets.

We are so used to seeing this franchise hold on to players too long and pay them beyond their productive -- it's definitely easier from a fan perspective to see the decline ourselves but by then its a lot of time wasted. We saw Bailey wasn't the same and should probably trust that it was the best decision. No one expects us to be able to replace a guy like Witten overnight, or maybe ever, so I don't know why we think that replacing the 2nd most accurate kicker in NFL history is going to be easy.

He better make his next one. Kickers are peculiar folk, it doesn't take much to go into the tank.

I haven't given up on him. I was just stating that Bailey was solid in 2016 when someone said he had a bad year.

Technically bailey would have missed the same kick with his groin issue. And then instead of Maher, baileys name is inserted into said thread, and you are then crying about why Dallas didnt go after a kicker in the offseason.

You see this whole cowboys cycle just goes round and round and round and.............
