Brian Schottenheimer is an Elite Head Coach

Respectfully disagree. I like shotty but I would say let's revisit this after 3 years.

Perhaps, and I am curious to see what he does in the next 3 years. But, so far, I think coaching isn't the problem for us that it has been. I think McCarthy was a good coach, but I think Schotty, all things considered, had done a great job.

I said a few weeks ago that I wished we could have had Schottenheimer sooner. I'll double down here. So far, Brian Schottenheimer is an elite Head Coach.

Has he been perfect? No, but every coach makes a few errors. However, by and large, he's made a lot more great coaching decisions than mistakes. He's good with clock management so far. In a league where you can regularly call out mind numbingly stupid clock management decisions, Brian Schottenheimer (a rookie HC) hasn't made those. Sure, he's gotten a bit overly aggressive times, but a lot of coaches are aggressive now.

Furthermore, not only has he beaten both Super Bowl Teams in the span of 4 days. Not only has he also beaten the Commanders and was a dropped ball away from sweeping Philly. He's outright OUTCOACHED Andy Reid, Sirianni, and Quinn. Remember when we would be upset because we were regularly outcoached under Jason Garrett? I think it'd safe to say we are not being outcoached. He's putting the team in great positions to win (excluding maybe the Cardinals game, which he has really improved from). He's trusting his QB. He's calling mostly great plays. He's managing his time-outs brilliantly.

It's nice to finally be able to say that we have an elite Head Coach in 2025. Who'd have thought that we might actually have the best HC in the division at the start of the season? Even if we don't make the playoffs this year, I currently have full confidence in Schottenheimer in 2026.

Dakota is definitely more comfortable out there...Not sure he would of thrown the deep balls under Mike..I think he is very comfortable with Pickens.

Dakota and George have chemistry.

The best pass I've ever seen Dak throw was that deep pass to Cedee from the 10..Our previous coach would not have called that.

It was cool. He was a nobody at the time but he treated me and my Dad pretty well, largely because he and his Dad were friends of my Aunt. The circumstances were terrible as I'd just buried my Mom and watched the Cowboys lose in Arrowhead but it was balanced as a good experience.

I was of course a lot more impressed by his Dad. Marty was an insanely kind man and getting to sit at a table and talk football with him as a kid in my 20's was awesome. I learned more about football in the four or so hours we spent at his home than in all my years watching or playing.

One of the things that has struck me about Schotty Jr. so far is that he not only knows clock management, but he seems to also know the rulebook very well. That call to kick it out of bounds when we got the ball at the 50 was brilliant! Apparently, there's a rule in the rulebook where it'd have served as a field position benefit if we didn't jump offside or something like that. Either way, well done to Schotty to know that obscure rule in the dynamic kick rule. When is the last time that we had a coach that actually knows the rulebook?

Yeah, that was the one thing I wasn't concerned about Schotty. He's going to be better at clock and game management than McCarthy and the Clapper were just by default, it's drilled into him.

He's also, despite some outliers (the fade) doing better at play calling, especially over Garrett's almost every play insanity. One of the things his dad taught me was that simplicity wasn't a problem as long as you read the situation and play to strengths. We soon forget how often Garrett and Moore kept trying to get cute with the offense. Moore's kept doing it with the Chargers and with the Saints. A buddy of mine has a friend on the Saints, I won't say who it is, but all is NOT happy in the New Orleans locker room on offense.

I think Brian's biggest need is to get a bit mentally out of his Dad's shadow. He seems to be wrestling a bit with how his Dad did it and how modern analytics tell him to do it. It's his first year, so that's a natural thing I'd think. Not everyone can be Sean McVay.
