Pete Carroll reportedly fired Scottenheimer for a lack of run game committment to the run.
Guy was way too pass happy for Carroll's liking.

And pass-pass-pass frenzy only led to more problems with Russell getting sacked and taking on that many more hits and punishment.
Just doesn't sound like an upgrade over kellen...
unless he learned from it.

Apparently teams aren't rushing to give up that 1st round pick.
For 3 of the teams it would be difficult to trade those picks based on where they draft in the first round. To give those kind of picks away you have to just absolutely love the coach you are getting and he has to be head and shoulders above the competition. Plus, i am not sure that any of those 3 are actually appealing to Payton. The only team of the 3 that has a QB is Arizona and it appears that Murray is a bit of a head case.

Houston - Picks 2 and 12 - Those are 2 premium players.
Arizona - Pick 3 - Premium player
Carolina - Pick 9 - Premium player

Denver has a 1st round pick that would be easy to part with for the right coach. However, their draft capital is low due to trading for Russel Wilson so they may not really want to part with any picks. They have pick 30 but don't have any 2nd round picks.

I think Payton would be more interested in a destination like the Chargers or Cowboys. A place where they have a solid roster and he can come in and make a few tweaks and potentially be a contender. If he wanted to rebuild then he would have probably just stayed in New Orleans.

Anyway, my hope is that McCarthy makes the right move at OC and he ends up getting us where we want to be.

Ben McAdoo was an utter disaster in New Jersey . And again he’s in and around the Star . Get some coaches from outside the franchise with a fresh perspective to sound them out .

I think Payton knows if he wants the Cowboys job it's his. If he's smart he'd just go and do another yr on TV. From the outside pay attention to dak, and decide if he's who you want. When you decide give Jerry a call at the appropriate time. If you dont think Dak is your qb make it clear to Jerry .

Whoever it is has to design the offense around Dak. That means if all those curl routes were installed because they are easier throws for Dak then whoever comes in here will put in a lot of curl routes too. They should try to get Kitna back to work with Dak.

Good point let's not limit ourselves surely he can throw a seam or check down

Local sports talk radio hosts think he will be the new OC. Broaddus was one of them.

He was a Coaching Analyst for the Cowboys in 2022.

Apparently he scouted opponent offenses for Dan Quinn.

Age 49.

OC in the NFL for 12 years.

He started coaching in 97 with the Rams.

Several stints as a QB coach.
If this is the former OC for the Jets this isn’t a upgrade this has to be another buddy hire

Nooooo!!! Don't like this rumor at all. I live in the PNW and am surrounded by Seahawks fan. They all couldn't wait for this guy to get run out of Seattle. Not impressed (which means it'll be the perfect hire for Dallas lol)

If he does go with Brian it’s another favor to the guy that first hired him into the league Marty. He did that with Nolan as well and that went awful. Just hire the right coach please. Not a buddy favor deal

Not saying he the right guy or not but I’m looking for an OC that can be creative and innovative.

if this guys from the old school of coaching I’m not sure that fits the bill, but I could be mistaken

Is Moore for sure gone? I've been out the last 3 days - did I miss something?

Coaches tend to do that, ..they feel more comfortable with whom they are most familiar with.
Whom they know best. It's not just here.
