well unlike You I actually did some looking and he made it plain it was the boys or nothing. Now of course you can make up whatever excuse you want....

That was the case. And a guy who is a borderline NFL quality player really makes a statement when he says something like that. He's saying pretty much "I don't want to play ... but if I can pull another year of paychecks without having to move, then I'm in." Real passion for the game that Holland.

We tried to resign him...

and IIRC he wanted too much money. Based on having one or two good games, he had some bizarre idea that he was worth more than he was. Of course, when no one else wants to sign you there is little leverage

Yea, thats my memory of it. My point was more to the fact that I thought the OP I responded to was saying that we just didnt want him.

Yeah, I believe that was the case as well.

As a former basher of the fat, lazy, unmotivated Holland, I was impressed with how well he played when brought back the first time and wanted to see the new and improved version return.

I was disappointed to read that the Cowboys only wanted to offer minimum. They ended up with Daniel Loper and another year of Derrick Dockery instead.

I believe Holland then went into business with LeCharles Bentley training young linemen.

They may want to try and recruit Rokevious Watkins as a client. That guy has eaten himself out of the league already.

I don't think he did. Bentley has had that business for a long time, if you look at their web page there is no mention of Holland. Bentley started his o-line academy years before Holland participated.

I was curious about former Panthers OT Jeff Otah. He was a big former first round pick who basically did the same thing.

I was curious about him after Doug Free's struggles last year and had read he was working out there in hopes of a comeback.

Haven't seen a word about him since...

He's sure mentioning it. Check his Twitter account. He's there in some fashion.

Maybe he's working there -- doubt that Bentley would give the guy a chunk of a successful business.

Odd though that you've got a guy who squandered his talent teaching people though. This ain't some sort of drug rehab thing.

Evidence: Holland didn't have a job in the NFL in 2012 and doesn't have one in the NFL now.

Fantasy: He only wanted to play for the Cowboys and we didn't want him so he didn't want to play.

Conclusion: Holland is a marginal talent who did little to generate enough interest to have an NFL job. Also, he is stupid for not taking 650k or whatever the vet minimum is to stay in the league.

The fact that he was better than either of our two starters AND no other team wanted to sign him speaks volumes.

How was he better than our starters. He didn't play. You are assuming he would have been based on a couple of good games following a season of crap.

The general consensus is that Holland played well the second time he came to the club, and IIRC he graded out better most if not all of the other linemen for the year. Personally, I wanted the team to get a better player than Holland, instead we got Bernardeau and Livings (though I still think there's hope for Livings)

So everyone just knows Waters is done despite not having seen him since he went to the super bowl with New England?

That's either some impressive armchair scouting or you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

He graded out well primarily because he was the G in Murray's massive game against the terrible and not even trying Rams. And honestly, the "general" consensus is a hard thing to get a finger on. You are just latching on to the evaluations that support your claims. You could look to threads on this board where strong arguments were made that Livings was our best OL last year -- do you believe that?

After doing some more checking My friend @SullyBaldHead is on to the story of Brian Watters. Just ran it past another source and are looking

It was discussed last night and because of the health issues at guard it's something that they are willing to check out further if they can

With that being said, they are looking at all possibilities at guard and just not Watters.

Why?

Not enough question marks there?
