So why should he start? You don't go from barely knowing the plays to starting in a two week span.
We did in the Campo days. LOL.......

Or give him a definite route, not some option route where he has to read the defense and make a decision. The coaches can explain the exact route to him and just have him run it then get him out of the game until the coaches can explain the next play to him. Just don't wait until he is on the field and Weeden has to explain it to him then.

If he doesn't have the playbook down, I think we need to see less of him this week. The one thing Weeden doesn't need is the distraction of a receiver not knowing where to line up. We need to do everything possible to make this as easy on Weeden as we can.
I'd run more two tight end sets using Beasley and Williams as the primary receivers. That gives Weeden some underneath targets to work with and receivers who know where they are supposed to be (although Beasley has had some issues with that).
I'd like to think we've improved since those days. Lol
He struggled to learn the system he spent the entire training camp on and you think he's ready to run a whole new system in two weeks?
They will do what they did yesterday, give him a few plays he can actually learn and bring him along slowly
A good start would be learning where to line up
Like the potential he has but he is not going to be much of a contributor for awhile and he's not going to be ready to start this year for sure
He's going to need a full off season and training camp to push for even a 4th WR spot
He should still know the play book and where to line up! - Militant Cowboys fans lol
Romo was directing where Randle and the new TE (Swaim) were supposed to line up on multiple occasions as well.
Got to love our fans....He hadnt even had one full week of practice.
Those underneath targets will have less room to operate and more chance of turnover with 8 in the box.
We have a new deep threat. His name is Lance Dunbar.
I was joking about sending Dunbar deep after the Giants game because an LB can't cover him and it would force a safety deep opening up underneath routes. I didn't think they would actually do it, let alone throw it to him. TWICE.He is a mismatch nightmare
Those down field plays are impossible for a LB or even safety for that matter to cover
He is also good at runs after catch on short stuff
He can be a bit of a security blanket for Weeden and an effective check down option
So Romo broke his collar bone and the Butler did it?
And it annoys the hell out of me. It reminds me of being back in the Ogletree days where every single play was Romo trying to get everyone lined up correctly and then having someone run the incorrect route.
Stuff like that stresses me the hell out.
