Brilliant advice to Dak: Tuck the ball more, thread the needle less

Exactly, Dak's legs are a threat when he uses them. He should use them more. It brings an extra element that defences have to defend, which can help open a receiver that would otherwise be covered.
That’s why it was disappointing to see Dak only attempt 4 rushes the entire game against the Niners.

when the #1 rusher leaves the game, they have to change the game plan to compensate but as we saw , no change was made

No, that comes down to better QB play, simple.Let’s not blame the coaching. After 7 yrs, a qb should know all they need to know.
I said the same thing about Romo after he went to Cabo during the playoffs barely in his 2nd year as a starter. Too bad an overwhelming majority of fans made excuses.

I've disagreed with Joey Ickes once or twice, but he makes a good point. Nothing wrong for Dak to tuck the ball and run once in a while. Even throwing it away, instead of forcing throws, especially during key downs or locations on the field (inside opponent's 20 or even inside our own 20).

I was disappointed to hear Dak's QB coach from the last several seasons was being kept. I don't believe Dak has improved on his game or turnover awareness the past 3 years, and that comes down to better coaching.
Also comes down to better learning.

Think his QBC isn’t focused on that?

LOL, I surely don’t recall you buying the QBC excuse for Romo.

Seriously, remember Holmgren’s face on the sideline when he had Favre? And he was the QB guru in Walsh’s coaching tree.

Romo lost any excuse after he went to Cabo during the playoffs during barely his 2nd year as a starter. Guy went totally Hollywood. Darn knucklehead. What an embarrassment.

Although the Cabo trip probably didn’t technically affect his performance, the optics of it were bad and he paid severely for that move. If he had won it would merely be a footnote but he lost.

i Will have to say that it funny that Witten didn’t face any criticism at all from doing the same exact thing……ah, the life of a Dallas Cowboys quarterback.

They all get either too much criticism or too much credit

I think that's what he's saying isn't it?
His argument was that Dak needs to run more and when the read isn't really open just tuck it or toss it into stands.
It is based largely upon INT rate which again is just goofy as that was a 1-time occurrence that was double the average of his prior 4 seasons.

The team also wanted Dak to stop throwing into heavy traffic but as Will McClay has a brain instead of stating he should run more or give up on the play by tossing it into the stands they went out and signed Brandin Cooks and drafted an R2 TE.

Joey set out to solve a problem Dak doesn't actually have (and after the team had remedied the true culprit) by suggesting he take more hits to avoid picks.

He should tuck and run a couple of times a game to keep the defense honest. I’d much rather see him run then force a throw that isn’t there

I would like him to run more too. Unfortunately I think that ankle break scared the daylights out of him and he's more afraid to now (with good reason, sure. Romo running broke his back.) Still, he has to be a threat to run with his style of play.

So you get to hate who you want....based on something not even on the field....
But others are not allowed to hate who they want without all kinds of harrasement from you.

I see. You get to be the judge. So casual and flippant about it to boot. Good lord.
When Dak goes Hollywood and pulls off such an inexcusable knucklehead move during the season or playoffs, get back to me so I can blast him to your hearts content.

I miss Jon Kitna being his QB coach.

Like a brick...you keep missing the point. The issue isn't that you blast Romo. Blast away my man. You are free to do that.

But let others have there's too....just like you demand you get yours.

We all have our own criteria. You have yours and demand it...other have theirs and have their right to it as well. Don't be a hypocrite about it. Don't you have something better to do?

The Crusades are extremely vain, arrogant and narcissistic...when YOU do it yourself.

I actually don't want QBs to run, except if pocket is breaking down and then scramble forward as much as possible. if you need a QB to run to have offensive success, then your offense has a problem. it also doesn't lead to success necessarily. Running QBs don't really make it to the super bowl, until they actually stop running and take on passing.
