Bring in one difference maker!

I don't want to hear about Butlers replacement at no 5 receiver coming in for a visit.

I don't want to hear about Looney's replacement.

I don't want to hear about Bell's replacement.

I want to see one player signed during F.A. that will actually make a difference.

Other teams have made moves.

Why can't we?
how much moey you putting in?

i'm afraid any potential additions to the oline are already neutralized by the eagles dline upgrades. cowboys need to build another a+ unit somewhere else on the team.

thats why you go out and draft 2 WRs. Give me Ridley in round 1 and Hamilton in round 3. And let them compete with Dez TW Beasley and Switzer and let the best start.

then what do we do when S lee goes down ?

We may not want to hear about Looney's replacement or Bells or Greens but those three things are critical to improving this team in 2018. We can't have our young, developing QB sacked 18 times in 4 games. Yes, we need to find a LB'er in FA who can come in and be effective but there hasn't been a difference making LB'er in the entire FA pool unless you consider Hitchens a difference maker. We know he isn't a difference maker, solid yes. Are there a couple of solid vet LB'ers still out there in FA. I can name 2.

I remember singing the praises of the NY Giants two years ago. Yeah, that's the way you do it, but money ain't for nothing and chicks ain't free. Their big time spending spree in FA two years ago netted one playoff game and a loss. Now we want to emulate the Eagles. Sure I'd emulate the Eagles in one way, and one way only. The ability to fit players in when the starter goes down. Isn't that what we're doing by replacing guys like Bell, Looney and Chaz? Improving the depth of the team?

Glad we stayed away from all the fools gold that we call free agency...at least that big first wave. Now that the dust is settling and reality is kicking in for some of these FA's...they will be more likely to take less.

The opportunity for a true difference maker has past us by as far as FA goes. Now, we turn our hope to the draft.

Because everyone has football brains running the show and we have a money making showman running the show.

Most fans would love to add a super star in free agency but I haven’t seen much I would have paid the price for
Free agency is the best way to fill must have positions and there is no bigger must have than your starting guard and swing tackle
A pretty good argument could be made that our lack of a viable option at swing tackle destroyed our season last year
They aren’t sexy positions but do you want to use 19 and 50 on your starting guard and swing tackle? Do you want you swing tackle or starting guard to be a later rnd pick playing day one?
Drafting a guard a little later and developing them is very important but you need an option if he’s not ready day one
Swing tackle is a tough position because the footwork from side to side is much different and is better suited for a vet

Of who was available who would have come here? Sitting at home behind your keyboard screaming, "Sign someone of reputation just for the sake of signing someone of reputation" is dumb. Of all the guys signed and or traded for which of them would have helped the team. The only two I saw that I would have liked is Kline and Ogletree even though his pricetag was high. Beyond that who, Bennett he wasn't coming here, Suh he only wants money, Mathieu more reputation than substance, Robinson or Watkins please they could be about as productive as Dez or less by being in the training room, Wilkerson see Suh.

What free agents were difference makers?
Most of the top players weren't free agents at all, but trades for draft picks and players. Even a free agent that becomes a starter or rotation guy isn't necessarily a difference maker.

Who are/were the difference makers that we should have restructured contracts in order to bring in?
I for one am very happy that the Sammy Watkins thing didn't work out; he hasn't been a difference maker anywhere yet.

It’s because we don’t make the right decisions at the appropriate time. Witten is done, Crawford is overpaid, and as much as I like Dez, he is on his last leg here in Dallas.

Allen Robinson was probably the best bet though, if medical staff thought he could be the same guy pre injury.
definitely may have provided an upgrade, but regarding the original post, a difference maker?

The Cowboys don't do that. They always SAY the right thing - that all spots are an open competition; but in reality, 95% of the positions are set in stone. QB is example #1 of this.

So no matter who they draft, Dez will be starting. Witten as well.
