I hear ya... but man it is still good to hear about the rookies.

What I take away from this kind of stuff is the movement stuff. Quickness, fluid hips, etc.

Personally, I think this is the best group of late rounders / UDFA's that Dallas has had in.... well, a long, long time.

Coleman and Bishop both can make this team, and I really think they will. Bishop at the 1 is a good indicator of just why Marinelli and the Cowboys don't want to use a high pick on a 1-tech. They can find these guys later on in the draft. Bishop has good movement skills, is pretty strong, is very good at playing with leverage, and can stack against the run. Then, if it is a pass, he can provide enough of a rush to compliment the 3-tech and DE's.

I truly think he makes the team and that he is part of a rotation. I will eat crow later if he doesn't, but I really think he will. He has what Marinelli wants out of that spot.

Coleman though, is a different story. I think he will have more of a difficult time making the team, but if he does, it will indicate more that the team really stole one. You really have to be fluid and quick to play 3-tech for Marinelli and if Coleman is good enough to do so, we really and truly got lucky there. I see his as a bit more of a longshot, but so far his quickness looks promising. I liked him in college more than I did Sutton. He played way better than his highly touted line-mate.

Malena is also a really good player. We have already read that he has impressed Broaddus, which means... well, not very much. But it is a lot better than him not impressing Brian. Just what my own eyes tell me about him as a player at TAMU gets me pretty excited. That guy can play and he does it with quickness, agility, toughness and competitiveness. He does it the right way IMO.

There are others who I like a lot, but those 3 guys are one's that can come in, make the team, and make a difference when they play.

Forget Broaddus, and I also don't care that the guys are only in shorts, I still loves me some Asthma player analysis. Nice job again bro. :)

Sorry, in this case, but everything I've ever read from Broaddus has been completely wrong.

Good point on his strength. I really do like him as a prospect... particularly as one that we didn't even have to spend a pick on. I think he has a chance, but I see the 3-tech as a much more difficult roster spot to crack than the 1-tech... which is why Marinelli will spend a high pick on a 3-tech and doesn't like to on a 1-tech.

Like I said, if we do hit on Coleman, that will be a very, very good thing.

so what's your best guess on okoye? 1 tech?

I'm with you all the way with Bishop. Coleman I know little of and seem to like other players who form 10 total on the D line.

These so called Cowboys fans obviously want to hear bad news about the rookies, maybe that they look weak or they are getting hurt...that way they can post their usual I told you so, I hate Jerry, Romo's fault post.

I sift through them every day.

You won't be able to convince me that watching Lawrence, Gardner, Coleman and Bishop won't be fun this summer.

I'm not sure if it's just me wanting to believe that we've picked up some late-round/UDFA steals on the DL... or that we've actually managed to find some good talent there.

Part of me thinks that I've just been hoping so bad that we'll shore up the DL this offseason, and therefore anyone we pick up I'll be excited about. But it doesn't feel like that. I'm sensing more than just the usual post-draft excitement around these guys.

Feeling optimistic right now and loving it!

I agree. My optimism flies in the face of the fact that with the exception of the first round pick, I hardly know any of these fellows. Yet I feel good about them. If reality proves me to be wrong, then at least I'll feel good for a while.

I think they'll try him at the 3, but if he has lost any quickness he will more likely play the 1. Honestly, I'm not sure he's even going to make the team.

He may not. It's going to be a battle for these DL spots. I was just curious where you thought they might start him out in camp. It would be nice if Okoye and Coleman would show enough at the 3 to let Crawford start out at LDE. I read where marinelli wants him at the 3 to start with. This DL may be mediocre at best but I'm excited about their potential.

I know it's even crazy to consider. And 3 of these may not even make the team yada yada yada. But what a coup if that was our starting DL in about 3 yrs. and I know...DUCK!

Every opportunity to gauge the players is just that, an opportunity...take advantage of any time to see what ya got...doesn't matter if they are in shorts and playing touch football or not, it's ALL part of the process of evaluation....and, as others have said, BB's comments are better than hearing "the DL guys looked pathetic"....mandatory camp in june, then we will learn even more about these guys and whether they can compete at a higher level
