Twitter: Broaddus done as Cowboy employee

One of Mickey's stock articles is "this is what dumb fans think, but I'll tell you why they're wrong".

I've never thought of him as arrogant. Mainly just annoying. Too dumb to seem arrogant. He'd be the first guy I would vote off the island of the media crew.

As for "how could he have stuck around for so long if he's so bad?", see Garrett's career on details for how that works.

Another Garrettism: the guy that clashes with Mickey gets shown the door.
Okay, so you don't like him. You are entitled to your opinion but understand that's all it is. No one ever said you had to like the man. Why you don't like me liking him is silly. Am I not entitled to my own opinion too? Long ago when I started reading his articles on the Cowboys, it was only available in newspaper form. I like what he has to say and your opinion isn't going to change that. That's the only point I've made about him so what is your problem?

Both argue their points in the same way. Mickey just has a hard time admitting he is wrong about anything. BB will always admit if he got something wrong.

I remember a caller a few season's ago was arguing a point (they kept the caller on for quite awhile), Mickey treats the caller like the biggest idiot in the world. Literally 2 or 3 days later the FO does everything the caller was talking about and Mickey then proceeds to say it was a great move by the FO and something that needed to happen (for quite awhile). Did he really forget the caller he had eviscerated for 20 minutes 2 days before??

It's Ok to be wrong. Just find it distasteful when folks cannot admit they are wrong or provide any info or insight into why suddenly they do a complete 180. I imagine this is why so many people see him as a company "yes" man. I enjoy him on the show at the same time. It's an opinion/debate style show.

He has done this quite often over the years.

I know what you mean, and I recall the same. I'd get some fax with some basic stories and team info. I think Bayless may have been involved also.

This was obviously before the media is what it is today, and the only real info out there at the time. I loved it.

So, the loyalty to Mick is understandable. I appreciate him for those days myself.

That said, things were pretty good in Dallas back then. Even when they weren't ready, we knew what was being built, and we all had every reason to be confident in who was running things.

Mickey Spagnola is a human being with bills to pay. He chooses to be a suck up to Jerry and his obvious shortcomings and put a positive spin on a helpless and sad situation for his own personal gain.

Add it all up and I dont blame the guy on one hand, but he and I have a very serious difference of opinion on how this team is run, etc, and I'd tell him so, and not think once about when I enjoyed his work in the past.

If you dont wish to see it that way, I personally understand, but in a place like this, you'll certainly find someone who doesnt.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion yes? That's what this forum is about, no?

Mickey is a team touting employee that never bites the hand that feeds him, his articles are condescending of fans, he's never wrong, he's arogant, his comments on the radio show are always excuses for why the teams loses, defends the team selections, he's never critical of Garrett ..

In regards to my above post.

I didn't mention Mickey has seemed to break out of his box a bit. Like the last year or so. He does actually seem to have his "own" opinion more so now. Even if it makes no logical sense. Baby steps

I think BB played apart in that by just confronting him on things. He largely went unchecked in the past on those things, I suppose because he was vastly older at the time then everyone else on the show.

Yep....you got it Locimus.
10 minute point.. Broaddus isn’t even that mad, just over it.

Yeah, I remember that episode too, lool.

Mickey is the embodiment of someone that “can’t see the forest through the trees.” He has the unique ability to latch onto one minor point and not see the larger point being made.

I’ve actually posted 1-2 threads on Mickey’s interaction with Rob; those two have gotten into it and you can tell Rob’s tolerance of Mickey is low because he’ll make snarky comments like “ok, here we go...what difference does it make Mickey?...et cetera”

One of the episodes I’m thinking of was when Rob was discussing Cooper’s impact on Dak in 2018, and Mickey joined in and started trying to correct Rob on some technicality when they were making the same point.

What is being said in his response that’s attacking your opinion of liking Mickey?

He’s just discussing why he doesn’t like him, no different than what you were doing.

I can see now, this thread is just going to devolve into a campaign to hate Mickey.

Then why is his post a reply to counter my opinion rather than just leaving me out of it and just posting his own opinion?

That doesn't answer my question. I expressed my opinion. He could have done the same without replying to counter my opinion. Why does everything have to be a debate?

Maybe he felt like you two were in a dialogue.

I didn’t read anything his response that attacked your opinion regarding Mickey. He did respond to what seemed to be a rhetorical question from you (paraphrasing) “if Mickey is so bad at his job how has he lasted so long?”

People that have hate for him because they don't like his viewpoint can also be considered arrogant because of that hate they carry. I myself don't view his take on the show as arrogant.

Fair enough. Thank you for your mediation. I respect all opinions.

If your line of work was sports journalist, and most importantly....take away your passion for the team itself, and say, the owner of the Lions wanted to pay you to defend his ways and put a positive spin on things, you could do it to feed your family.

Mickey Spagnola knows the game, and knows that the Jerry show is a ridiculous exercise in futility, but his job is to spin it otherwise. That's all.

Yes....thank you bringing up Rob. He really has less patience with Mickey now I’ve noticed ...it’s from doing that crap you mentioned. Arguing for arguing’s sake. I see Rob’s face ..the old “oh jeeze...do we have to do this crap this morning?” look.

Mind you, I'm not local. A lot of us arent.

I don't even know what Broaddus even did.

Is there by chance a situation by which Spagnola hosts a call in show? I don't want to get too excited, but now I'm thinking of going toe to toe with the dude.

Jerry can't fire ME. Quite the opposite if anything.

Why? Just beat him with kindness. Better for one's health longterm.

You could say this exact thing of Brad Sham honestly.
